 An enjoyable item synthesis game

I have done three playthroughs of Atelier Rorona, and have enjoyed it since the start. It was not as difficult to understand nor get into as I expected. The game lays out a time scale for the player to complete the main assignments which, if not contributed to well enough, gives you a game over. However, I have found it is easy to complete each task and focus on the side-quests you can undertake with much time to spare.

The Assignments have you synthesize various items in the workshop by combining items from your basket, which you then give in and are rated on. You gather items by exploring the various map areas. Other characters can request side tasks where you either give them basic gathering items or items you need to make through synthesis. There are many endings based on both performance and character friendship levels, giving the game replay value.

The turn-based battle system is simple and allows you a party of 3 max members, though skills use HP rather than MP, and only Rorona is able to use the Item command. If she is KO'd it'll be up to your other party members to use healing skills (if they have any available).

Overall, I like the cell-shaded anime visuals and soundtrack the game provides. The gameplay is simple and somewhat repetitive but has enough to do to keep you occupied throughout. I recommend giving the game a try, especially if you're a fan of anime style RPGs or the Atelier series.

Very Simple yet Rewarding and Addicting Gameplay

This game probably took a small step forward with its transition to PS3 from the RPG powerhouse of PS2. PS3 is lacking RPG games and due to making games in HD era it takes a long time to make the game look good as well as play good.

This got a few moments to get into but it is quite a simple and very addictive game. Story isnt flashy and does not really become epic. But it is like watching an Anime series with alot of cool stuff to do.

if you like the previous games you will like it. but you will only be dissapointed by the fact it took too long to come onto the PS3. put that aside and you have a 4/5 Game that is worth getting into.

 Does nnot live upto expectations

Having palyed all previous games in the series on PS2 I was lookig forward to this on the PS3, a massive disapointment, graphics are no better than the PS2, it is primarily a fetch and make game, the characters have no real personality, the time bonded quests make it dificult to deveate from the main quest and with the time bonding it has a finite life span ie, do all the chapters it will take you the total length of time allowed per chapter or less, you cannot play longer than the chapters allow. Which is why they have probably put different endings but you still have to forfeit playability for time constraints. Played it for several days put it down and have no desire to start it again.
