I will start in saying that this is the best game I've played all year, I haven't completed it yet but from what I've played, it's quite simply astonishing.
I've played this on the 360 aswell and I can tell you now that Valve have done a steller job on the PS3, in terms of graphic's it's alot crisper and you also have the Steam compatability. You get a free Portal 2 download on Steam for your PC with the PS3 version so that co-op can somehow be played between PS3 consoles and on PC's.
Puzzle's are still brilliant that really make you think and are so fun to work out. You now have these sort of gel-like substances with each giving you different abilities. The orange coloured gel increases your speed while blue lets you bounce up high and the white gel makes any surface portal-able.
So overall, it has some of the best voice acting I've ever heard in a game with a supurb performance by Steve Merchant who voices the little personality sphere who is hilarious at times due to great writing. Top notch graphic's (namely for PS3), sound is amazing, PS3 version has Steam capabilities, it has a brilliant central mechanic with it's portal device and I can't think of single negative for the PS3 version. Now it's just up to you to get this game.
The best version to get by far is for the PS3. What people haven't mentioned here is that the PS3 version for CO OP play is not just cross platform between the PS3 and PC it's also MAC compatible. Currently the PSN is down so I haven't been able to try cross platform co-op but when Sony finally fix there servers it is gonna be great!
This is just a response to the guy below saying that you can buy it, and one of your friends play on pc, and one on ps3 at the same time.
Although you DO get a pc and ps3 copy of the game... these will both be linked to one steam account and you will only be able to play online with one at a time... therefore you need 2 copies of the game before you can play together, you can't use your ps3 and steam copy at the same time.
If you like puzzle games you will love this, the first was amazing but the new version is top drawer, ps3 graphics are crisp and stephen merchants voice over is great....... I would recommend this game to anyone who fancies using the mind rather than just endless shoot em ups which flood the market and take no effort to play, this game is a real test.
Bought this expecting it to be a time filler before LA Noire comes out and I was shocked at how addictive it is. It's the kind of game where you sit down to play a few levels and end up completing it. The physics are amazing and you get an immense sense of pride figuring out how to complete the harder rooms.
The storyline, though simple is hilarious, with the voice over for the training levels to Stephen Merchant as your trusty assistant.
PS3 users also get access to Steam, which is an incredible tool and can play Mac and PC users online. Unfortunately being a PS3 owner I cannot say what the online is like at this time. Roll on May 3rd!
Can there be a Portal 3 please?
