Dark Souls is the spiritual successor to the widely acclaimed action RPG Demon's Souls by From Software. Dark Souls is a brand new action RPG (role playing game) set in a rich, dark fantasy universe. Tense dungeon crawling, fearsome enemy encounters and groundbreaking online features combine for a truly unique RPG experience. Dark Souls breaks down barriers with a seamless world design that encourages exploration and fosters an adaptable gameplay experience. As players encounter terrifying enemies and discover new areas, the unerring foundation of challenge and reward permeates to offer an unparalleled sense of achievement.

Demons, spawned by the wrath of gods, have brought darkness to the world. Stricken by the curse of the undead, many have lost their souls. Players must battle hideous demons and unimaginable monsters to collect souls and find the Eternal Flame of Life, which is losing its power to restore souls and keep the eternal night at bay.

To put it simply, this is a true sequel to Demon's Souls. The unforgiving, challenging game play is back, combined with an open world setting. I'll try and keep it short, but the new health/magic system is a great improvement, the world is expertly designed and interconnected, the atmosphere is spot on, and of course the enemies/bosses are awesome and varied. It will drive you mad at points, but it's worth conquering.

The game is huge, and will last a long while. There are tonnes of hidden items etc, even entire areas. Some people will get frustrated at the punishing gameplay, but if you have played Demon's Souls you know what to expect, just noticeably bigger...more streamlined...and better.

 Zelda & Diablo

Dark souls and Demon's Souls are my two fav games this gen. Perfect controller combined with rock hard difficulty. Plays like zelda and feels like Diablo. Perfect match if you ask me =)

 Too hard and too annoying

This game is way to annoying. Making a game based on dieing just fustrates you beyond belief.

Making a game hard is fine, but why they did not give an option to scale the hardness level. And at least make the controls precise enough so that you constantly dont feel cheated.

I would avoid this game unless you like smashing your controller or TV. Terrible,

Dark Souls, one of the best games i ever played.

As the title says Dark Souls is one of the best games i have ever played and also one of the toughest. If you enjoyed Demon Soul's then you'll love this one even more.
