If only they were compatible with PS4!

| | See all DissappointedGamer's reviews (1)

Purchased the headset having seen them on the Turtle Beach website as being compatible with the PS4. What that actually appears to mean is that they are compatible if you purchase a Chat Cable and are prepared to accept sub standard sound and game/Chat audio through one channel. Add to that the fact that the seller will not accept returns on opened items and I am now stuck with a completely useless headset!

Am I happy? Am I hell!

  Lasted 3 Months

Ok I will start off with the good points. I was using these on my PC to play games and use voice chat. The sound quality was good, the mic was good and the battery life was great.

However I kept having issues where the mic would stop working and I would need to pair the head set with the box-thing. Not too big a deal, but not great as I wasn't sure if people could hear me.

The worst part about the head set was the build quality. Very cheap plastic used to hold the thing together and after 3 month it developed a crack. This was not due to me rough handling them, just the normal pressures of sitting on my head. This morning the crack developed and snapped, now one ear cup just hangs by the wire. I tried to repair it with tape, but it is broke.

So but this head set if you want to throw it out after 3 months and money is no issue to you.

  Really good

The headset is really good quality and sounds really good in games, there is just two slight problems. the first one is that one of the bits of plastic always pops out of place but I just pops back in so no a major issue but the most annoying thing is that if there is a noise that is really in quite the headset doesn't pick it up so you cant hear it which becomes very annoying if you're watching a film on your console because you miss half of the speech. But overall all a very good headset if it is being used purely for gaming.

  Great Headset

Been using these a little while and personally think they are great.

I need to keep the noise down due to having a young daughter in the house and these fit the bill perfectly.

The sound is crystal clear and with no interference from the wireless router as stated elsewhere. The presets I can see would be great for shooters BF3/MW3 and alike.

The only reason for teh 4 star rating is the build quality. They feel robust and are very comfortable but they seem a bit "plasticy" (always an issue when things are made out of plastic!!) but just feel a little flimsy around the rotating ear cup/band junction.

Controls are all on the ear cup and are easy to set when being worn. The mic seems clear and is easily adjustable. It is flexable and can be rotated out of the way when not in use.

Overall a great looking and great sounding headset . Comfortable and fantastic value............just need the DSS system for it to give surrond sound and you have a headset as good as any wireless headset on the market and far cheaper.

  Great 4.9/5

I have heard a lot about Turtle Beaches so I thought i'd try one myself.

I bought these as they were wireless, affordable, (74.99) and are multi platform. xbox, P.C and PS3.

I have never had a turtle beach headset before so can only compare them with stereo headphones.

First impressions were they are comfortable. Sound is very crisp. Love the fact you can raise/lower the ingame and chat volume separately. The presets are a bit confusing at first as you have two lots of 8 presets to toggle through. One preset "superhuman hearing" that I downloaded is too loud. The lowest volume is too high - you can't turn the volume down any lower. (it is either off or loud!) no problems as there are other presets and I can also revert to default presets.

The headset feels quite delicate and I think it could break easily. I keep it in its box when not in use.

I bought it for playing FPS. I heard that they are much better than ordinary headphones and you can hear footsteps much better than when using headphones. I would agree...... but... I have only had them for a week and would like to do more tests, ie play for 1 hour with the turlte beaches and then 1 hour with my Sennheisers. Wlll edit my review in future!

So far I can't fault them and am happy, the only dilemma now is whether or not I should go 7.1 and buy the Earforce dss 7.1 surround thingy?!

It's awful if you have wireless internet

If you happen to have a wireless router that puts out a 2.4GHz signal, then give this headset a miss. The two interfere with one another and cause buzzing, loss of connection and lag. On the other hand, if you have a wired connection, then you should be fine. But this is a very obvious design flaw with the product because most people have wireless internet, now.

  Great set of Headphones

Got these as an early Christmas present and have to say they are a fantastic buy. I play alot of Call of Duty online and have been using a PS3 earpiece until now. This headset gives you a real edge while playing online with the various sound settings eg a setting that isolates footsteps or enhances enemy reloads. The ability to turn up chat and turn down gameplay to your own taste is superb and managed easily via the controls onthe headset.I haven't tried them on my Xbox 360 yet or my PC but even to have that option is a bonus, a must buy for all gamers.
