It has been ten years since the Raccoon City incident and the President of the United States has decided to reveal the truth behind what took place in the belief that it will curb the current resurgence in bioterrorist activity.

Due to be by the President's side is his personal friend and Raccoon City survivor, Leon S. Kennedy, but when the venue suffers a bioterrorist attack, Leon is forced to face a President transformed beyond recognition and make his hardest ever decision.

At the same time, Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance member, Chris Redfield arrives in China, itself under threat of a bioterrorist attack. With no country safe from these attacks and the ensuing outbreaks, the entire world's population is united by a common fear that there is no hope left.

In a first for the franchise, Resident Evil 6 sees series favourites Leon and Chris come together to face this unprecedented threat. They will be joined by new characters, each with their own unique perspective and involvement in this relentless dramatic horror experience enacted on a global scale.

Redesigned control system:

  • Resident Evil 6 features an evolved control system allowing players to shoot whilst moving, slide, roll in any direction and take cover along with the addition of an enhanced melee attack

Character profiles:

  • Leon S. Kennedy: Following the Raccoon City incident Leon was recruited as a government agent by none other than Adam Benford, who would later become the President of the United States. Ever since the nightmare that was Raccoon City Leon has made it his life's work to eradicate bioterrorism.
  • Helena Harper: Like Leon, she is also a government agent, but was in the process of transferring to the Secret Service to become one of the President's personal bodyguards. In the announcement trailer it is Helena who admits to Leon that she is the one responsible for this incident.
  • Chris Redfield: The ex-S.T.A.R.S member who continued the fight against bioterrorism as the leader of the BSAA underwent a personal trauma some six months prior to the events depicted in RE6. In spite of this he has rejoined his BSAA colleagues in China to uncover a major bioterrorist attack.
  • The mysterious third protagonist: We're still trying to track down his real identity but we do know this man is a mercenary currently engaged in a bloody conflict in Eastern Europe where reports confirm that B.O.W.s are increasingly being used. One day, he's told that he is the man to save the world. Whilst he doesn't understand the implications of this, he does immediately think how much money he can make from it.

Enemies:

  • Zombies: Yes they are back, but now they run, jump at you, even use weapons and as such are different from those encountered in previous games
  • J'avo: Named by the BSAA after the Serbian word for 'demon', the first J'avo made an appearance in the conflict zone of Eastern Europe about six months before the action of Resident Evil 6. The J'avo still exhibit certain human elements - such as the ability to understand speech, work together as a group and use weapons - but they are also incredibly aggressive and a number of their actions have regressed to pure instinct. When a J'avo takes damage it has the ability to regenerate itself. However if it is receives major damage then it will mutate that affected body part into a number of varied forms, meaning players will have to rethink their strategy and adapt to this unpredictability.

Being a huge fan of Resident Evil going back all the way to the PS1, i was hoping that this installment would be something big, and it doesn't disappoint. The graphics are brilliant along with the cinematic's , the game play it's self is very smooth and (so far) your AI team mates actually help quite a bit and don't get in the way.

There's a huge variety to the game in terms of enemies, some are your average Resi zombie, while others will spout into mutated spiders and another range of things. The story it's self is different as there are 3 campaigns to choose from (4 when you complete the other 3). Each campaign is different and has a different ending, but all 3 of them loop in with each other at some point, so you get a better feeling for the story.

Overall they have done a very,very good job with this one.

Seriously, everyone is complaining about Resident Evil 4,5 and 6 because they have changed the inventory systems or camera angles, the fact of the matter is that EVERY single game that makes a franchise will evolve and change. They have done it with all games, Mario and Sonic took the jump to 3D, Metal Gear camera angles changed as did controls and gameplay, deal with it. They have to evolve to keep people interested otherwise we would just be playing rehash after rehash of Resident Evil 1 for the playstation. This game is excellent. The story is utterly fantastic and the gameplay/graphics are awesome. This feels more survival horror than RE 5 and the first chapter alone has had me jumping, for people complaining about lack of inventory space then realise that this is survival horror! Its supposed to be difficult to manage items. The only negative is that the controls take a while to get used to, thats it for me. If you want Capcom to take Resident Evil back to its roots then you will be waiting a lifetime. Peace.

Resy 6 is brilliant. Ever since the series changed since the 4th game, alot of people have been slateing the games. But like a few previouse comments said, a games series has to evolve. Graphics are amazing, the return of Zombies was a nice touch, plays brilliantly and more flexible than the last 2 games. Walk and Aim people xD. With 4 campaigns with a play time of about 5-6 hours EACH!!! aswell as Trophys that require replays gives this game a great replay value. Only one dodgy bit i thought was the climbing bits were you have to press L1 - release then press R2. But theres literally 3 bits in the whole game that requires that kind of QTA button press. Very enjoyable game and FYI the demo didnt do the game justice.

RE6 is possibly the worst title in the series and I thought RE5 was bad but at least I finished it, I cannot say the same for RE6 the quick time events are awful, but not as bad as the crawling and climbing events where you have to hold L1 then R1 in repetition are so mind numbingly borring you just loose the will to continue, why?
They have done away completely with the attache case and you only get around 9 slots for ammo, first aid, grenades, remote bombs and green and red herbs so all you end up doing is throwing allot of your equipment away so you can just reload an empty gun because you cannot reload empty guns with all slots filled which is totally bonkers, where is my attache case?
On top of all that you cannot upgrade any weapons only skills and you can only use 3 out of the possible 24 skills at any one time and only 2 skills if you use infinite ammo, so there is absolutely no point in upgrading more than 3 skills unless you want to keep going into the menu and changing skill sets mid game which does not pause the action and can get very tedious when being hunted by a creature that cannot die!
This is defiantly a title you should avoid rent it if need be, I played through the prolog and Leon's 5 chapters and had enough, the game just has no play value. The creators should have gone back to RE4 as it was the best title in the series continued the story but left the game dynamics alone because every one likes upgrading weapons and rearranging them to best fit there attache case. The final nail in the coffin was no Chicago Typewriter or modern version of, RE5 had the rubbish mini gun that blocked half the viewing area but nothing in RE6.
A real let down and a waste of money, this game could have been so much more.

There is no denying that this game is a massive departure from it's Resident Evil roots. It lacks the atmosphere and slower, more tense pace of the earlier games. There are no puzzles, no maps and no files to collect. I have only got as far as Chris's campaign and have switched the game off as I found it to be playing more like a poor man's version of Call Of Duty. I'm surprised that such a well renowned series of games has altered so drastically and released a sequel that is so similar to all the other action/shooter type games on the market.
Quite why Capcom have turned their backs so much on the feel of the earlier games is beyond me... Urban China and European war zones where you fly through the scenes facing armed enemies is too much like a run of the mill war game and not enough like the survival horror surroundings of old.
This is not for the want of having a mere re-run of the first couple of games, but aside from the title of this game and the names of the characters, there is nothing to link it to it's heritage.
There are so many other games on the market that do what Resident Evil 6 does but with a higher standard of gameplay and better thought out controls.
Yes, the graphics are good and the gameplay is far from difficult. But the camera angle is a massive let down as seems to be the accuracy of the aiming.
I expected a lot more from this title. If you are a longtime fan of the series then you too may well be gutted by the changes that have been made...
