From Revelations to Revolution

2012 sees Ubisoft's flagship franchise return for the most epic adventure yet in Assassin's Creed 3.

Building on the rich storyline established in previous games in the series, this new entry into the Assassin's Creed saga is the most expansive and ambitious offering yet, bringing tantalising new revelations on the ongoing war between the Assassins Brotherhood and the Knights Templar.

Set in 18th century Colonial America during the time of the Revolutionary War, Assassin's Creed 3 introduces gamers to a new protagonist in the form of Connor Kenway, a half-English, half-Native American man, who becomes unwittingly drawn into the conflict after his home is attacked by colonists.

Featuring a variety of significant historical figures from the period, such as George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, General Lafayette and King George III, as well as brilliantly realised recreations of 18th century cities including Boston and New York, Assassin's Creed 3 continues the series' tradition of bringing history vividly to life in a fresh and exciting new way, with scenarios rarely seen in the world of videogames.

And the action won't just be confined to the cities. Players will also have the opportunity to explore the vast untamed frontier, engaging in pursuits never-before-seen in the Assassin's Creed franchise, like hunting a variety of wild animals. You'll even be able to skin the animals and trade their pelts as part of the enhanced in-game economy. There will be a variety of new weapons to play with too, including bayonets, bows, tomahawks and rope darts.

In addition to the 18th century action, Assassin's Creed 3 will also focus more heavily on present day events in the life of series mainstay Desmond Miles as the ever-deepening Templar conspiracy finally reaches its shocking conclusion.

With what promises to be the most significant gameplay developments in the history of the franchise, Assassin's Creed 3 is shaping up to be the most thrilling release of 2012.

 What a let down

Ive played all the assassins series and this is by far the worst. there are some serious glitches that need to have been sorted out way before release. i have had several instances of disapearing through the floor and into a blue screen. The controls have been simplified too much. lip sync in the first couple of cinematics is terible a 6 year old could do better. oh and the end (I wont spoil it) just make sure you are happy to finish the game, why is it that the final scene is the end. why cant you continue after the main missions with side missions and liberation missions. assassin guild controls are bab, camera angles at times is terrable. such a let down for me, need to improve big time for the next series. Brootherhood and revalations much better.

oh and trying to make your points known to ubisoft and the asassins creed 3 teams are terrible, you end up with an automated response about resetting the game and seeing if the glitches appear again.

 Brilliant

Watching the trailers etc and reading about this game before it came out, it had a lot to live up to with what it was promising, and by far it has not failed to deliver. The graphics are immense, especially for the open world environment, everything looks crisp and the game play is smooth. It's a very interactive environment and it still has the features of old of being able to traverse buildings etc easily.

The combat system is also very good with a whole new host of weapons at your disposal. Definitely one of the best games of the year.

5/5.

So i didnt play this until recently as i didnt get into the assassins creed games until late. Now i have played them all and they get better and better each time! i would say brotherhood was better than revalations though! but Assassins creed 3 really did blow me away. One of the best games ive played this year. Really looking forward to Assassins creed 4 now!

IMO each game in this series is better and better. No exception. Game-play is brilliant, the story line is totally awesome and there is some longevity so you can spend plenty of time soaking up the excellent surroundings. Free-running through trees is brilliant!

 Worth buying

Ac3 in my opinion isn't the best in the series, but its not as bad as everyone says. Although I have had a few minor glitches ive never got anything so bad as to spoil the game. The story is great fun. Playing as connor is a breath of fresh air from the past few games. Free roaming has greatly improved with much larger maps and naval missions. Plus the multiplayer has also improved. The ending is quite a let down but nothing that should stop you from buying it, I suggest waiting until the price has gone to at least below 40 before buying.
