Ive only just got into basketball after watching a couple of live harlem globe trotter games and when i saw NBA 2K13 it was a game i was really interested in playing. Its been a game i have got my moneys worth from, be it on the blacktop court where you can play custom exhibition style matches or in the immersive career mode. The two best modes within the game are the Create-a-legend mode, where you take an existing NBA star and play exclusively as that player through his career. Without a doubt the stand out mode within the game is the career mode. You create and customise a new NBA rookie from the ground up, his looks, playing style and even gear are customisible. You then set about playing in a Rookie Showcase, where your play style and performance then leads to you being drafted to an NBA side. From there you can spend attribute points to build up your players skills, interact with your team and the fans to help raise your profile. The mode is pretty much unlimited in depth and choices and it is a really good simulation of an NBA players life.
One thing i would say about the game is that there is a really steep learning curve, intially i was left with a really poor performing player because the games start at 100 miles per hour whilst you're still picking up the controls but once you have mastered the game every slam dunk, steal and block become that much more rewarding.
Ive recently bought NBA 2K14 too and i have to say when you put the two games side by side, i actually prefer 2K13....The game is genuinley that good in my opinion. Hope this helps anyone looking for a bargain price game with massive play time
