The goal here was to create a game that offered unlimited possibilities. A game where you could be whoever you wanted and do whatever you wanted. "Live another life, in another world" was the Oblivion team's motto; this is exactly what they have created. If you love games that allow you to explore, wander amongst the beauty of the landscape and engage in combat with weapons or magic then this is truly the game for you.

You live within the stunning capital province of Tamriel, called Cyrodiil. As a brave and noble warrior you set on a dangerous adventure, to find the hidden heir to a throne that sits empty, the previous emperor having been killed by an unknown assassin. With no true Emperor in place and no guidance for the people of Cyrodiil, the gates of Oblivion open, bringing only death and destruction upon the humble towns and villages.
  • All the updated patches and downloads for Xbox360 and PC are available in the PS3 version. More excitingly, The Nights Of The Nine faction has been added and integrated into the storyline here so you won't need to buy it as an "add-on" package. Also, blending and shading effects are much more seamless on PS3 so the game looks even more stunning.
  • Live Another Life In Another World: Fully personalize the world of Oblivion by creating your own unique character from an endless variety of races, attributes, skills and mastery levels.
  • True Next Generation: Unprecedented visuals combined with stunning special effects deliver an awe-inspiring 3rd or 1st person adventure. Visit lifelike towns, far away monuments of beauty, dark and eerie dungeons and walk amongst the most realistic forests ever created in a game.
  • First Person Melee and Magic: To defend yourself against the numerous monsters and marauders that live in Tamriel, you must master the arts of combat and magic. As you progress your character's skill set you will learn new moves and how to mix ingredients such as plants, vegetables, beverages and herbs to create your very own spells, to prepare you for any given situation.
  • Realistic Characters: Oblivion features thousands of individual characters and character traits. Each have a unique personality and type of lifestyle within Tamriel, part of the fun of playing Oblivion is knowing its populace and how each individual can help you find your way and achieve your goals. Talk to them, find out what is happening in their lives, but you will need to master the art of conversation to fully succeed!
  • Open-Ended Game Play: The enormous world of Oblivion is open for you to explore at your own pace and there are multiple ways of achieving your main goal.
  • There is also an endless variety of small tasks that take the longevity of gameplay into the unknown - find missing people, fight thieves and return valuable goods, solve conspiracies for example.

I got this game after many good reviews and buying a PlayStation 3. The game is different to many other RPG's i have played before. I have only ever played one other First Person RPG which had bad reviews but i ended up completed it. This game is just like it in many ways. If you dont like the First Person view you can always press R3 so you can see your character and play for a more Zelda like approach. There are many good things about the game. There is a lot to do, you could do the primary quests but easily find yourself wandering off and exploring and before you know it you have been playing for 10 hours. The world is huge. The game also works depending on every action you take. For instance you can be arrested just for jumping on someones horse or taking some items from a chest in somebodys house, and you wouldnt be expecting this as in most RPG games you feel free to take whatever you want without being in trouble for it. The graphics of the game are amazing and live up to the PS3's expectations. The game wont leave you dissapointed and there is many things to do, Alchemy, Crafting etc which i havent got round to doing yet. A must buy for PS3 owners!

warning:this game will dominate your life for months!

I don`t think I`ve ever played a better game. The graphics, sound and whole atmosphere probably give you the ultimate gaming experience. The best thing about the game is it`s totally up to you what you do:join guilds and work your way up the ranks, complete the main quests, steal, pickpocket, start fights(my favourite is see how many town guards you can kill!)rob houses, steal horses, use magic and a variety of weapons, use your persuasive powers to optain more information.Just by wondering around the landscape you`ll find caves,ruins,mines-al full of nasty creatures but think of all the bounty:gold, armour, weapons, gems.Trade with people to obtain better weapons,armour- or better still just steal it!Maybe this is the ultimate game, until the sequel!

 Oblivion has stolen my life!!

As a fan of FPS and RTS games I approached Oblivion with some trepidation. I tried Morrowind on the PC for about 5 hours and then sold it. However my wife had bought Oblivion for me for Christmas to go with my nice, shiny, new, PS3 so I had to give it a go. It's brilliant. It's even taken me away from Hellgate and Crysis on the PC. The hard drive on our HD box is nearly full, because we don't have time to watch programmes, so we record them. And then we don't have time to watch the recordings.

It's difficult to explain why I like it so much. The graphics are good, but nothing special, but the gameplay is brilliant and having the combat in real time rather than the usual ways of RPGs is great. I have started to become immersed in it and that does not usually happen. Your enemies level up with you so there are almost no walkovers, like in some games. Ironically the exceptions to this are usually found when you have been sent on a quest to kill some particularly nasty character. Having been told how difficult it will be you are confronted by the character ( I'm trying not to give too much away here ) who threatens you with all sorts of evil and then 10 seconds later you are picking over his corpse and wondering whether it's worth casting a healing spell for so little damage.

I wish that I had received the game of the year edition, with the extra content, but never mind, I might get it anyway and try to copy my saved games to it.

There we have it , the best RPG I have ever played? Yes. One of the best games I have ever played? Absolutely.

 As Good As Pie.

As a role-playing lover, this game is an amazing game. This game shows how much effort the designers put into it, many options to chose from and that's of clothes, houses, weapons and which path to go to lead to your final mission. If you love the role-playing, freedom-roaming type of games, you'll adore this one.

I don't particularly like RPG's, but with the lack of games at the moment, I went with oblivion. Not only the best RPG I've ever bought, but probably the best game I've ever played!
Whether you want to take it slow, and build up your stats, living as a decent citizen, whilst eating sleeping, gambling, fighting, or go a bit AWOL and steal a horse and ride into the mountains and forests to kill some monsters!!!
The games graphics are superb, and the amount of detail of the surroundings is awe inspiring. The most difficult bit is just choosing your character, and choosing which path your going to take.
I live with 3 other housemates, and we are all playing it! Its been a great way to show how much your decisions decide how u end up, as are characters, fame, weapons etc are all completely different.
Anyway, i wouldn't recommend it if you have a wife, job or are in the middle of exams (like us 3) as you will not leave the house!!!
Buy and enjoy!
