 Solid Remote.

It is quite difficult to review a remote really. Here goes. As far as remotes go this is a good one. It is clearly laid out and is easy to use. It incorporates all the Joypad buttons as well as the main buttons found on most remotes. This means the remote can be used to control the media bar on your PS3, which is handy for music and video. The remote only works with the PS3 so you can not control any other devices. The remote itself uses bluetooth which works from anywhere within 10 metres and does not require you to point directly at the PS3 which is quite useful. You can use it to control DVD functions as well. So all in all a worth while purchase if your going to use your PS3 for more than just games.

 All remotes should be bluetooth

Well, its a remote so as expected will control your PS3's blu-Ray player and limited function of the Console itself.

Whats great about this remote is its bluetooth. It has no infra red sensor so if someones in the way or something is blocking the front of the Player it still works.

Heck, you could even take it upstairs and rewind and fast forward (up to 100 times normal speed)

A must if you plan on playing Blu-Ray disks on your PS3.

The Sony PS3 Blu Ray remote does what it's supposed to do very well, matches your PS3 with it's sleek black look.

If you watch alot of movies or listen to music on your PS3 or basically your PS3 is your main entertainment system, this is perfect and would be a must-buy item. Using your controller to do those two things just isn't the same, and alot of the time you hit the wrong button on the joypad.

However, because the remote has the X, Circle, Triangle and Square buttons you can also use it for example if you just want to see quickly if there are any PS3 Store updates, and do not want to fire up your controller. It has the Start, Select, R1, R2, L1 and L2 buttons also, it even has the PS Home button which is great to turn on and off the console. The Enter button also acts as the X button, so you don't have to fiddle around.

The other buttons are what you will find on all stand-alone Blu Ray player remotes. You will think there seem's to be alot of buttons, there is. But don't let that put you off, in my case I bet I won't use half of the buttons.

Not sure how practical it would be to use this remote for playing games, I don't think it would be, I've not tried it, and probably won't.

Pairing it up with your console is very easy, just a case of holding the PS button and Start buttons, and when it asks you for the code it's the usual 0000 (because it uses Bluetooth).

The remote comes supplied with 2 AA Sony branded batteries, which was nice of Sony to include.

Packaging for the product is the all plastic stuff, so you will have to take a sharp knife to the back of the packaging if you want to keep the box. Why Sony use that packaging is beyond me.

The remote itself seems sort of "plastically" but it's light weight and can be operated easily with one hand. No back-lit feature alot of people have said - but if that was included it might of bumped up the price maybe, still would of been nice to have it though.

Buttons on the remote are responsive and you don't have to press down very hard to do the job you want. Since it's Bluetooth as well you can use it easily if your living room is huge.

This remote is far better than the other remote you can buy on the market (the Gio Tech one). I saw a review of the Gio Tech one on YouTube, allthough that one looks nice it does not have the PS Home button on it, and it's not completely wireless.

Delivery time from Play might be a while on this, but that doe not matter (I just thought I'd mention it) but this is the best price you will get this for on the Internet.

Great addition to your PS3 console, and a great buy from Play.com once again.

 Almost perfect

If you own other Sony hardware like a TV or DVD player then you'll appreciate that the remote is aesthetically in keeping with your other handsets. If you don't then don't despair because it's a looker in it's own right and is finished in a sexy gloss black metallic - though not the same ultra-high gloss as the PS3 itself or the satin finished joypad.
I'm docking a star because it doesn't work with your PS3 out of the box because like all Bluetooth devices it has to first be paired with your PS3 and also because there's no immediate way to switch your PS3 off; you have to press and hold the PS button as you would on the Sixaxis pad.
So nothing to be overly worried about and Play.com certainly seem to have the best price.
If you want more control over your movies then this thing will make your life just that little bit easier.

Build quality:
The build quality could be described as good, though not great when compared to the remote control of my TV and other appliances. I wouldn't want to drop it on a hard floor for fear of it smashing. For this reason I gave it 4 stars

It measures 22cm long x 5cm wide and fits nicely in the hand.. It looks nice and is glossy to match the PS3. It even has the PS3 button in the centre like the one on the ps3 controller to turn it on or off. The familiar buttons are there such as play, stop, pause/slow motion, next, prev.. all in standard positions that are easy to control when sat in the palm and using your thumb to press the buttons. Other buttons that you'd expect on a DVD remote are there too such as audio, subtitle, eject and ps3 specific buttons such as L1, L2, R1, R2 triangle, circle, square, cross, start, select are on the remote too.

The first thing you have to do is pair the remote to the ps3 being bluetooth. This takes literally 1 minute using the settings menu on the ps3. Easy to follow instructions are provided. The remote works very well as expected and because it's blutooth you don't even need to point it at the ps3. The remote comes with 2 Sony AA batteries which worked fine.

It's a good remote and essential if you watch a lot of films as using the ps3 controller is a pain but this makes using the ps3 as part of an AV system for more enjoyable. Get one!
