I've had to write a few words about this game, i'm not a massive racing game fan but threw caution to the wind and bought this. I must say the first few races weren't anything out of the ordinary but it's when you go into the career mode that this game becomes really entertaining. Some of the cars are difficult to handle but thats all part of the challenge, i've restarted some races over and over until i'm used to the car and the track, there doesn't seem to be a penalty for doing this which is a great idea, why shouldn't you be able to practice? Yes the races are short but who wants to spend an hour on the same race? This way you can work your way through the game, earn licences and progress. I love it!
ROCK SOLID game... but... ROCK HARD...

I reckon this game must have been developed with the assumption that the entire gaming community had a force feed-back steering wheel... because this is how I think this game has to be played in order to do well and progress up the tier quickly...
I'm only 25% through this game with my standard controller and I'm well hacked-off at how hard it is to keep up with the AI competition... and by my own standards I'm driving as hard as I can... this game is directed more towards arcade gameplay and simulation replays and it's 'ard-as-nails...
It's good but not good enough for 5 stars... 'Grids' younger brother 'Dirt' was a far better game...
brilliant.

Race driver grid has some great gameplay, fun and graphics. Race driver grid is all about fun and gives you so much enjoyment. The main reason why this gets 5 star is because it gives you so much depth in the gameplay and there is alot to do in the game. Grid world is a great adventure though your carrer as you start of as a rookie with a average garage and no money. You start as a driver for hire and do races in 3 places. Europe, Usa and Asia. Its so entertaining and so much fun to play this game drifting though japan or wrecking every car in your way at the Amercian events. Multiplayer is surburb as well with a nice ranking system and lovely atmosphere. Gaming at its finest is here and everyone should enjoy it. As ive said alot in this review thats its fun well that what it was designed for. To sum it up its all about enjoying yourself doing your style of racing, using flashbacks to save yourself from wrecking and earning the money to buy the best garages and facilties. The graphics are very good and the damage is unbelieveably. The crashing is so realistic and the cars are so detailed. Its my favourite game at the moment and never gets boring with all the events to do. This game should last you ages, well done codemasters another brilliant racing game created. 5/5! 1.Great handling and braking system, but not for everyone.
2. The graphics are stunning
3. The most fun ive ever had in a racing game.
4. The damage is amazing.
5. The online is very good and addictive
Overall well deserves a 5/5!
Who play tests this stuff!?

I've been playing games since the good old days of the humble Vic 20, so I like to think I know a good game. 'Race' has a fair enough menu system, different race modes, the usual malarky.
Then you come to the game. Nice gfx you think, and to be sure they are. Then comes the driving.
!? It's like driving a boat. Who playtests this stuff? Anyone? A minute tap of left or right and the cars are everywhere (and there's no sensitivity option). Why should I have to go and spend another x amount of dosh on a steering wheel and pedals to play this? What next, racing jumpsuit? The cars wave and waddle about like some 70s American cruiser, not like a modern day GT or whatever.
The damage too is annoying. The slightest bash and that's it - car is knackered, bits everywhere.
If only one person is saved from this game.. then my work here is done. Avoid.

For all it's positives Grid comes across as a rather average racing game due to its lack of features and consistency.
The main feature is the "GRID World" where you race through season after season with all sorts of cars unlocking more races. Unfortunately you never feel like there is any depth to this since the races are all only 2 - 4 laps and you change from different vehicle to different vehicle so often you can never feel comfortable in any of them. Similarly you can race for other teems too earn money but again you are simply put into a car of the games choice and expected to know how to race it well. Within the GRID World mode is an opportunity to get your very own team mate. There race performance is as important as yours when it comes to sponsor money. Annoying during the races they don't shut up. Even though there are many different nationalities each one sounds like the same guy doing a bad accent. They keep you up to date with their position etc but don't sound very professional.
The games great number of difficulty levels means even new comers to this sort of game can jump in and win race after race. With the easier levels you get to use a good number of "flashbacks" whereby you can rewind time to undo any mistakes. These prove very useful but also feel like cheating. You do become very reliant on them as crashing is something that happens a little too often as other racers have no problem giving you a little shove if your in their way.
Online the game is a let down due to numerous glitches and general awkwardness.
The crashes look very nice and are not too OTT. The cars all drive very well and realistically. Vehicle damage is excellent too and has a noticeable affect on the driving performance. However these factors are not enough to warrant buying this game. Defiantly rent it or borrow from a friend first.

If you have a playstation3 and like racing titles, ul know like me that theres not much out there really other than gran turismo prologue and Burnot paradise. I own colin mcrea: dirt and its quite similar to GRID. When i found out that codemasters was releasing GRID which is basically the newest edition to the toca series. So bought the game on release and still playing it to this day, its great its got the fast paced feel of Dirt and graphics of the likes of gran turismo prologue with full car damage and in my opinion a more enjoyable game to play. gran turismo to me just seems really sluggy and lacks in customisation. actually id say its more like project gotham racing4. anyways lets wrap this up, Great game, Great graphics, Good choice of events to choose from. A must buy for a playstation owner that is looking for a good solid racing sim. add me psn: si_morris
Top class racing game

No games has ever come close to touching this, it is simply the best. Yes it would be better if there was more painting option but lets be honest it about driving not colour schemes. The handling is brilliant the damage is unreal. It play that bit faster than normal games so the feeling of speed is right on the edge. I am online playing which took it to a complete new level.
If you only buy one racing game in your life this must be it.
Best Driver on the PS3 so far...

I purchased this game after playing the demo downloaded from the PSN. I have been frustrated with the GT series and the lack of updates to fix the problems with GT5 Prologue and the constant delays to the full version of GT5.
Not as accurate as GT5:P when it comes to physics but for sheer enjoyment and a good level of gameplay then this is definitely the driving game of the moment,
