Having had the PS3 for little more than a fortnight, I have fallen head over heals in love with it. I was expecting a fantastic console to begin with, but once I'd set it up and threw in a couple of games I REALLY was amazed at the vast improvement it is on any of the current next-gen consoles, never mind the PS2. I must stress, a good HD-TV and HDMI cable are absolutely essential to get everything out of this beast!

But of course, it's not just the ability to vastly improve sound and graphics that really count - it's the games. The PS3 now has a great line-up of amazing games and with a huge catalogue of fantastic games to be released over the next year, this console really is a must have.

The online feature, PlayStation Network, is absolutely FREE and runs amazingly (unlike the Xbox360). Playing PC games I always end up with lag - but so far not a flicker of lag running online games on the PS3!

I could go on and on and on about the PS3... the fact that you can hook up your PSP, the way you can recharge your controllers unlike the Wii, the PS3 Shop (downloading game demo's for free - what a great idea!), the games (MGS4, anyone?), Blue-Ray player, etc etc.

Without a shadow of a doubt this console deserves a big 5/5. Even the very small issues which I've highlighted below don't put even the smallest of dents into the brilliance of this console.

It's a shame the 60GB version was discontinued. My only gripe with the PS3 is it lacks backward compatibility (according to the manuals, PS1 games MIGHT work but I haven't tested any out just yet). But nevermind, the majority of us who own & play PS2 games will have a PS2 console... so it just means keeping it. No biggie. The reduced number of USB ports and the lack of a memory card reader aren't that much of a loss either.

People always moan that this is the most expensive console on the current market but you get such a lot more for your money than you do with any of the other next-gen consoles. Just bear that in mind.
