The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Game of the Year Edition presents one of the best RPGs of all time like never before. Step inside the most richly detailed and vibrant game-world ever created. With a powerful combination of freeform gameplay and unprecedented graphics, you can unravel the main quest at your own pace or explore the vast world and find your own challenges.

Also included in the Game of the Year Edition are Knights of the Nine and the Shivering Isles expansion, adding new and unique quests and content to the already massive world of Oblivion. See why critics called Oblivion the Best Game of 2006.

Live Another Life in Another World - Create and play any character you can imagine, from the noble warrior to the sinister assassin to the wizened sorcerer.

First Person Melee and Magic - An all-new combat and magic system brings first person role-playing to a new level of intensity where you feel every blow.

Radiant AI - This groundbreaking AI system gives Oblivion's characters full 24/7 schedules and the ability to make their own choices based on the world around them. Non-player characters eat, sleep, and complete goals all on their own.

New Lands to Explore - In the Shivering Isles expansion, see a world created in Sheogorath's own image, one divided between Mania and Dementia and unlike anything you've experienced in Oblivion.

Challenging New Foes - Battle the denizens of Shivering Isles, a land filled with hideous insects, Flesh Atronachs, skeletal Shambles, amphibeous Grummites, and many more.

Begin a New Faction - The Knights of the Nine have long been disbanded. Reclaim their former glory as you traverse the far reaches of Cyrodill across an epic quest line.

Top 100  Reviewer Top 10 Games Reviewer

How can I write a review for this game in only 3750 characters? I'd need treble at least there is so much going on in this game, so much to do with all the time in the world to do it.

For starters this game is worth the money a game that can last over 100 hours and has all this to experience and do:

To start off you have a very detailed character creation that allows you to pick from, imperials, ork's, elves, lizard men and cat people once you've picked your race your can make them more or less as you or as old, as thin or cubby as you like, choose eye colour, hair style, and sex. A little way into the game you can choose your start sign which can give you various powers/ abilities or increase your stats you can also pick what warrior class you want or deign one of your own assigning ability points.

Aside from the main game and missions you also have various guilds that you can join, work your way up the ranks to eventually become the leader of that guild while getting paid for the missions you do. You have the Fighters guild, the mages guilds, the thieves' guild, and the dark brotherhood (assassin's guild). Each of the guilds offer their own unique, fun and challenging missions and their own little story to work through showing who and what the guilds and there members are.

As well as the guilds there is also the fighter's area here you can also work through the rank until you're the overall Champion of the area. As you progress through the ranks the more money you get and fighting in the arena is a great way to raise your level. Once becoming the Grand champion of the arena you also get your own little fan that will follow and worship you.

With the game of the year addition there are also the two expansion packs incorporated within the game the knights of the nine where you will find yourself looking and acquiring the legendary crusader armour. And the mad world of the shivering isles which opens a whole new world of missions complete and characters to meet. The shivering isle alone can add over 30 hours to the game.

Aside from all this there are tons of other side quests available that you will find as you travel from town to town and explore the huge map laid out in front of you. Lucky you don't have to do it by foot you can also explore on horseback.

The graphics in the game are fantastic there are some stunning views and sceneries to look at and when you step into the shivering isles and see the night sky for the first time you will just be wow, ooooo, ahhhh, it's just beautiful to look at.

I would have loved to write more on this game I would have probably bored some people with the amount I could have written. At the end of the day though you're getting your money's worth hours of fun and challenging game play, hundreds of characters to talk to allot of which will offer you small tasks to do, amazing graphics, the ability to make a character to your spec, the chance to fight through small, large and huge enemies with axes, swords, maces, magic, bows or even your bare fists. You can even become a vampire. This is just an amazing game for all to enjoy.

           SIMPLY STUNNING

This game as amazing in every way. The graphics are great (not amazing but do the job), the gameplay is easy enough to get used to, and yet has so many different ways of playing. The sheer size of the game in terms of missions to complete and the vastness of the map allows for hours upon end of gameplay. I have been playing for over 100 hours and still find it thrilling and original. Absolute bargain.

           Epic game

This game is unique to any other game currently on the PS3 market. There's no doubt it has been magnificentally designed allowing the gamer to explore and do whatever they want in this virtual world. The size is very impressive, simple details are very well created considering the time of release and size. The narration and story is key in making this game truly memorable.

There are so many great things in this game but also a few minor problems that you may want to know before you get it:
-The details are a bit dated now compared to modern games, don't get me wrong - the details are great, but there are some glitches and you do notice that the graphics are slightly basic in areas.
-The fighting isn't very effective compared to modern games, they are quite simple and repetitive movements.

Overall, this is a very good game and I'm glad I bought it, there is definately something for everyone to enjoy in this game, and the main story can last up to 40 hours as well as so many extra quests you can do.

Oh yeah! purchase this wonderful creation!

certainly a must buy for ps3 and xbox 360, graphics can be a bit outdated and combat is usually pathetic, but the size of the environment, quantity of quests and activities, literally endless character customisation settings and the ability to pick up, keep, customise and sell most objects in the world make this game fantastic. i love the game music and atmosphere too, when its sunset on the game it's always fun to wander across the meadows watching the lakes glimmer, wildlife sleep and the grass blowing. yes, i know i sound like a woman, but i don't care.

           Many hours of play

          | | See all Ygolonac's reviews (1)

This is a massive game with a huge number of hours of play. Its combined RPG with action, a large number of quests and characters.
Some may find the open nature of the game a little daunting compared to the usual hand-holding games of today, but the quest log system will keep you on track for things that need doing. Once you get to grips with the world portrayed in Oblivion you'll enjoy the epic quantities of activities this game provides.

Note: I've played the game on PC and PS3, there is no 'significant' difference in control or graphics. The only lacking feature on the PS3 is the ability to apply user mods to the game.
