To put it simply, and to avoid any confusion, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is a sheer masterpiece. A fantasy RPG set in the mythical province of Cyrodiil, what sets Oblivion apart from its contemporaries is the primarily first-person perspective, a feature which is integral to the extent to which you will become immersed in this colossal role-playing experience. And what a gargantuan game it is! The Game of the Year Edition contains not only the base game (this alone provides more hours of gaming bliss than 20 average games combined) but also the two expansion packs that matter: namely, The Knights of the Nine and The Shivering Isles DLC packs. The latter expansion in particular boasts enough content to almost be considered a separate game in itself, offering a whole new map to explore, a new story, dozens of side-quests and countless new dungeons, items, creatures and NPCs to encounter.
So, with the impending sequel, Skyrim, almost upon us, you may be on the fence about dipping into its predecessor. But I can assure you, if you simply give it the time and patience it deserves, Oblivion may well prove to be the most incredible gaming experience of your life.

This game gave me hours of fun. Escpecial the shivering isles expansion. It's strong points are the fact that, after the little intro mission, the player is free to do whatever they like, so they could, like me, complete more or less every side quest before finishing the game. Or the other way round. The sheer range of things to do is still awe inspiring, with all the guilds that the player can join making it different every time you play through this game. Well worth any money, it is by far better than anything else made by Bethesda, such as fallout

  Wow.

This is without doubt the definitive game of it's genre, with a literally endless storyline/mission base. Amazing customisation options and decent graphics also give this game a cutting edge. I've had this game since the day it came out, and can confidently say that it is one of my best games.
Recommended for lovers of Fallout, Fable etc...
An absolute steal for this price as well.

  avoid at all costs!

Read so many good things about this game so decided to try it for myself. Very very disappointed, not my sort of game just did not have the patience for it. Found it to be too slow and boring boring boring! The fight scenes are dreadful and after only spending 4 hours on it i decided that was long enough! Much better things to do with my time then play this massively over-rated rubbish!

Here's my story about how I bought Oblivion Again..
I had my PS3 controller stolen..
So, i swapped my old oblivion (not GOTY) for my friends controller.
Came to play.com
Saw the GOTY Edition for £18ish
Thought "Scam Site"
I bought it, to find out.

I was thinking, it must not be High def, or it's for another platform, or something...

It arrived. WOW
It was perfect! Infact, Im on it as we speak!

This game is unique to any other game currently on the PS3 market. There's no doubt it has been magnificentally designed allowing the gamer to explore and do whatever they want in this virtual world. The size is very impressive, simple details are very well created considering the time of release and size. The narration and story is key in making this game truly memorable.

There are so many great things in this game but also a few minor problems that you may want to know before you get it:
-The details are a bit dated now compared to modern games, don't get me wrong - the details are great, but there are some glitches and you do notice that the graphics are slightly basic in areas.
-The fighting isn't very effective compared to modern games, they are quite simple and repetitive movements.

Overall, this is a very good game and I'm glad I bought it, there is definately something for everyone to enjoy in this game, and the main story can last up to 40 hours as well as so many extra quests you can do.

I had played this game on PC before buying it on PS3, but I don't regret that decision. On PS3 the visuals are stunning and getting the GotY edition means that it comes with the Knights of Nine plugin as well as the Shivering Isles expansion pack. However, if you want more from this game than the literally huge amount you get I would recommend the PC version, due to the fact that you get the rest of the official plugins as well as a wealth of custom made plugins online or even make your own. However if you just want to play it on your PS3, get this version, either way the game is fantastic.

to shrew14. this is the same game as oblivion but it includes both the expansion packs for it (knights of the nine and shivering ilse). and yes shivering ilse is the newest expansion pack and its set on a completly different island. if u wait til sept you can get this game for £17 from play. it's worth paying that just for the expansions even though youve already got the main game.
