Odin's daughter Freya, goddess of love and wisdom, is appointed the task of stopping Hel and defending the future of mankind. For her champion she chooses Skarin, a great but troubled young warrior, ignorant of the true reason for his favour with the Gods and thrust into the midst of their bitter war.

As Skarin, players will experience unparalleled battle scenes, leading the charge in a titanic clash between powerful gods and mere men. War on an unprecedented scale will rage across a beautifully realised Viking landscape. Vast, living islands, free form worlds filled with discovery, stealth, brutal combat and culminating in epic battles the like of which have never been seen on console before.
  • Suitable for 18 years and over. Not for sale to persons under age 18. By purchasing this product, you declare that you are 18 years of age and over.

The Story of a Viking Hero - Skarin is an uncompromising force. A play-thing of the gods rebelling against their selfish agenda. The definitive Viking warrior.

Rich Viking Lore - The violent and glorious world of Viking mythology brought to stunning life. Players will write their own legends to be told around the campfire.

Vast Open World Environments - Explore, uncover and fight your way across huge next-gen worlds full of combat, exploration and quests.

High Impact, Brutal Combat Engine - Experience intensely physical melee combat. Dismember enemies with deadly combat moves in a whirlwind of death.

Mythical Powers - Tame dragons and command them to rain fire upon your enemies. Call on magic and the power of the gods to win the mortal war.

Free Your People - Liberate your Viking kinsmen from the clutches of Hel. Earn their trust and their sword arm. Fight alongside them in battle.

Epic Battles - Lay the foundations for huge battles featuring hundreds of dynamic NPC warriors. Subtly influence the battle through targeted assassination or wade in to save stricken allies. Become one amongst many and turn the tide in favour of your kinsmen.

               My kind of game

The reason it is a 5 star for me is beacuse out of all the other games i have played i have never got stressed out with this game, even when i die! (which is a very big thing for me!)
I find the combos (to kill things) in this game are very entertaining and are all you need. The AI chararacters are fantastic as you see them actually getting stuck in.
Overall very entertaing for me on all levels. (If you are a spartan total warrior fan you'll love this)

               Very good, but too short

              Good:
+The game is beautifully put together, with you being able to freely roam around the land without constant loading times or glitchy graphics.
+The game balances brute force attacks with subtle stealth aspects, forcing players to think about what they're doing. You can't just charge in 'all guns blazing'
+ That 'Epic' feel. When you've amassed you're army and you're marching on the enemy fortress, or midway through a massive battle, you've get that 'Oh My God, this is awesome!' feeling

              Bad:
              - The games a bit short. 3 'Worlds' with about 8-9 missions each. Could've made it a bit longer.
              - Missions can be a bit repetative. Go here - Save this clan - Do a job for them - return - they're now part of your army
-The battles suffer from some slowdown (although, with over 100 AI on the screen, you'd expect this).
-Sound. The battles don't sound too realistic. With over 100 AI fighting, you'd expect more noise!

              Appeals to:
I'd say this game would appeal to the crowd that like to pick up a game every now and then and do one or 2 short missions, or people with that 'GTA' syndrome, that like to sometimes just wander around the virtual world to kill some free time.

I've not had any problems with loading like some people have mentioned. Maybe I was lucky.

i've played cod4,assassains creed, uncharted and they are brill games but i have to say this game is as good as the best it isnt quite better but its still brilliant.

Its a really vicious game but it is created beutifully the battle scenes are amazing and really well thought out everything is just perfect.

oh and by the way ive finished this game twice and found no problems such as glitches "lucky", i don't know.

               Good Fun Hack and Slash

Just finished this games yesterday, and I had a lot of fun with it. One of the few games where I wanted to pick it up any free time I had to do the next stage. Good points are good story (with the great BRIAN BLESSED shouting as always!), good graphics, amazing variety of gory kills and some nice cut scenes. However a couple things let it down, the lack of variety and the length of the game, probably completed it in less than 20 hours. However very enjoyable, and definately recommended at the lower price!

               hack-and-slash game

Viking: Battle for Asgard is a very nice hack-and-slash game. It's really not difficult to play and is still very enyoable. The huge battles with thousands of soldiers really makes the game supurb.
