Love this product.
I really wanted this product because the speakers on my tv wasnt fantastic, so i tended not to watch tv.
As i feed my audio to my pc speakers i get better quality for audio!!

In response to uknick: My sticker was fine, yellow for yellow, blue for blue.
So not sure about that one.

I lvoe how you can easily record tv, in guide just press select.

5*

Easy install, can record whilst playing games, watching Live TV or playing a previously recorded item. Simply connect your standard TV aerial to the tuner provided and connect to the PS3 via USB. Severn day TV guide built in and scheduled recording can be set for a specific channel on a specific day at a recurring frequency. Whats more is the PlayTV can be accessed via RemotePlay from a Playstation Portable. Picture quality is excellent however this is depending on the quality of your signal strength in the area. The PS3 system has the ability to switch off/on once a set recording is to begin or has completed. An internet connection is not required to operate PlayTV, although Sony routinely offered updates which will enhance how it works and perhaps offer additional features. Recordings can be saved to the XMB menu, whether they can be transferred from the PS3 system I do not know.

Great, I have a HDD recorder without any extra remote controls or DVD player size boxes.

However, my only issues are that it has no 'RF out' so you loose your connection to the TV meaning if you still want to be able to use your TV's built in tuner you'll have to use an arial splitter.

And more of a complaint about the PS3 than PlayTV but there are no rear USB connections so you have to permanently have a wire reaching round to the front of your PS and obviously this means you loose one of the front USB connections.

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars Great, neat product, Must Buy

Overall a great accesory for the ps3. A must have if you don't have a set top box already.
I love how we can set to record something late in the night, leave the ps3 on standby, wake up to find your ps3 still in standby mode but yet the console has turned itself on, recorded the program then turned itself back off.
Absolute genious and good for people who don't like leaving things on over night.

I love the search bar mode a great addition too. I wasnted to record a bear grylls episode so i just searched it, and managed to record it at 12.45am last night, using the method i just spoke about.

I have a few issues though but do not make the product bad in anyway, more of a consumer improvement and advice.
[__] I have just oredered a remote, the official blu-ray remote for my ps3 as i think this would be better to go through channels and recording etc.
[__] I would like series link as lately i want to record all the episodes of fonejacker but i am happy with doing it manually.

A great product and i'm glad i purchased, menus are sleek and swift. Easy to record and set up, around 5 minutes although the first video you can't skip! Which was pretty annoying to say i knew all about it.

Can someone please tell me how to set this up so I can watch my tv as well.
Let me explain, It only has one connection for a main aerial, No in and out.
Which means I have to watch tv through the ps3.
I have tried using a splitter feeding both the ps3 and the tv, But just end up losing the signals to some of my tv channels on the tv not the playtv. Seems strange why Sony didnt put an in and an out?????????

Dont know about you, but I had Sky and was fed up of watching the same programmes over and over so decided to cancel it. I have a 37" HDTV with built in freeview and in my area the signal appears to be quite poor (even though I paid for a new Digital aerial to be installed on the roof). Anyway, when I plugged my aerial into this little device (about the size of 2 packets of cigs), I receive ALL freeview channels with no break up in quality whatsoever....I must say, this has gotta be my best buy of 2008!!!

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars Better than my Vista HTPC

I have the first gen PS3 and upgraded my hard drive to a 200GB 7200RPM 16MB

I have been using a computer for the last six years for watching and recording TV

My current one is Vista home with a hauppauge dual tuner (£55)

**********************************

Installation of the PlayTV very fast, easy and I had no problems at all.

The PS3 from power on to watching live TV is under 40 seconds, my PC is still booting up!

The picture and sound quality is the best I have never seen, loads better than my PC.

Switching been between channels virtually instantaneous (PC can take a few seconds).

This is another reason why the PS3 is the best next gen console ever made (we need better games to beat the xbox 360 now - come on Sony!!!).
