Review

Coinciding with the 25th anniversary celebration of the film's original theatrical release, Ghostbusters: The Video Game reunites original cast members to recapture the unique blend of humour and fright that established Ghostbusters as a pop culture sensation. Penned by original Ghostbusters writers Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd, Ghostbusters: The Video Game brings members of the original cast together for the first time in 20 years. Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson lend their voices and in-game likenesses to the original story set two years after Ghostbusters II, with Manhattan once again overrun by ghosts and supernatural forces. Players will have the chance to chase, attack, and catch ghosts in a funny and frightening battle to save New York from its latest supernatural plague.

Whilst it's certainly not a gaming classic, this is still an enjoyable romp through some familiar & some new ghostbusting territories. It's enjoyable at the outset and there are plenty of weapon upgrades & humour to keep you entertained. Although i found the game started to drag a little towards the end, that still didn't detract from the fact that, overall, it was a good bit of fun and for the price you really can't grumble.

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars This deserves to be in everyone's collection!

When I got this a long time ago, I absolutely adored it. The first thing you will notice is the excellent use of source material here, only narrowly defeated by Batman Arkam Asylum's effort. All the characters look like they do in the films and they are all voiced by their respective characters. The story is great and the huge variety of ghosts is just sublime.

The gameplay mechanics themselves are brilliant. The guns/ghost catching equipment are great and satisfying to use and the way you catch ghosts is clever and well designed. The level variety is great, although it is a shame the game is so short. This ties in with the poor multiplayer experience (Very little to do in it) to create the games only major flaw; there is very little replayability.

Nonetheless, many games are burdened by this problem and you may like the multiplayer, whcih would render this irrelevant for you. This is brilliant, fun, diverse, nice looking and deserved of a place in your collection!
