DP Directors cut is a vast imrovement over the original Xbox build.
The graphics are a vast improvement over the original xbox version. Everything has been brightened and re coloured. Parts of the backgrounds have been redrawn and more details added.
Everything looks clearer making it easier to navigate.
Whilst driving the improvement was clear as buildings no longer flickered and the road looked much more detailed.
Trading cards, menus, the profiling screen and the HUD have also been improved.
The game now looks like a current generation game rather then a PS2 game.

The controls are a lot better and it now plays like a modern 3rd person game. They reminded me of the Mass Effect games. York is now a lot easier to move and no longer handles like a tank.
Driving is a lot better and it's easier to turn the cars. This made the races a lot easier.

The map can now be extended whilst you're driving around, but I didn't think this really helped much. Sadly the back button no longer goes straight to the map which was a shame.

The sounds and voices have been made clearer. An echo has been added to the shadow world which sometimes glitches and follows into the main game.

Frame rate
I haven't had any frame rate issues and the game has been fine for me. Not sure what everyone has been talking about.

New scenarios
This is basically some cut scenes at the end of each chapter. Adds a nice bit of story, but you won't be playing anything extra.
