Why oh why get rid of the turn based strategy and turn this game into another boring 3rd person shooter!!
I loved Xcom enemy unknown, it was a nice break from your normal types of games available for consoles.
So what do they do. Completely change a winning formula and turn it into another shooter.
The game that looks like its set in the 1950s with some hitchcock music in the background that lacks the feel of the need to protect your squad and plan carefully.
Theres no longer any benefit in a sniper, heavy, assault or support class you may as well pick any that you want. it wont make a difference.
What a let down.
Some people might like this more than enemy unknown! For me its definately a step in the wrong direction.
Who makes these choices?? Sack them, and give me their job! Overpaid Monkeys!!

 Good game

Don't quite understand why the other reviewers undermine this game so much. There's no need to get upset just because "XCOM" is part of the (sub)title....
The game-play is very much like the Mass Effect games, i.e. a 3rd person shooter with some role-play elements.
It may not be the most original game, although not that many games take place in the early 1960s.
I enjoyed it and, yes, I have played XCOM Enemy Unknown, and enjoyed that as well.
I particularly liked the the twist towards the end, which was was quite original and unusual....

 Stick to XCOM: Enemy Unknown

Why oh why?

Thankfully Enemy Within is out soon and I can enjoy a new installment of The One True XCOM. :-)

 What a let down.

I totally agree with the guy above, why did they take a nice little niche game and turn it into a budget rip off of Mass Effect, lacking both the characterisation and story? They've literally stripped it of everything that made enemy unknown amazing. No jetpacks, no full team just a crappy three man cell, no female agents, no nicknames, no armour just crappy backpacks and sweaters. No weapon upgrades, no reverse engineering, no psychics, the class system is virtually pointless, all the strategies are basically the same and the story you can take or leave.
A husk of the previous game, turned into another gimmicky shooter.
