I bought this for my 5 year old son. It arrived through the door on the tuesday, friday morning he excitedly phoned me at work to tell me he'd completed it. I really didn't believe him. Now he's not a game addict, he would just as happily go outside and play or play with his toys than sit on the PS3 but he tore through this game in such a short time, I felt totally robbed. The levels are small. The enemies in the one player story mode are defeated with a single blow with the weak attack (seriously). This is just stupid seing as there is a whole list of combos and different attacks that you achieve by collecting coins and buying them between levels(all these combos and extra moves are therefore totally pointless). The lack of the ability to play as other characters in one player story mode is frustrating seeing as the capability is already programmed into the game but just not used. Even if it was unlocked after completing the game, that would be something but sadly it isn't. There are tiny little fractions of the levels where you can briefly be one of the other characters but is in a set place each time and only in a couple of places.
The enemies in the terrible co-op mode are annoyingly difficult to defeat and they do the old annoying game trait if being able to just punch through your attacks and stop you dead. You cannot play co-op in story mode and only get the choice of a horrible survival made where you are bombarded with enemies from all angles until you die. Also you get some terrible mini games like shooting targets and a VS mode.
The graphics are OK ish but nowhere near spectacular. The thing that makes them OK ish is that they are colourful so kids might like it.
Now I am really not being fussy here, I bought my son Lego Indiana Jones which is also really easy but that game took ages to fully clear and I happily played along with my son as you can both play co-op in the story mode and have a nice selection of characters to choose from all with different skills and abilities. It also has you wanting to play levels again to find the hidden items. Not KFP though.I also got my son Surfs Up. Same sort of thing all the way through (different sort of game to KFP) and not my cup of tea but infinitely better than KFP. This game requires no skill, no thought or initiative and has no lastibilty. I mean it when I say, only buy this turkey if you or the person you are buying it for is fanatical about the film and has to have it or if you just like wasting money. There are a few minor alterations that could have been done to this game and it would be a million times better than it is, but for some reason, the lazy game programmers just didn't bother. It amazes me how the programmers thought this was good enough to release and it amazes me how anyone else has said that this game is anything other than terrible. Activision have let us down with this one which is surprising as you can often get a good idea about how good a game will be from who made it. And Activision are normally quite good (COD4?). Maybe they let the work experience boys programme this one.
Avoid.
woop such a cool idea, better be good and hav bunnies and flapping things in it thn hes in the gang
this is gonna be a beast of a game lol kung fu panda what a name for a game quite catchy
any game with the words kung fu and panda must be a good game lol
We rented this game for our 5 year old and with the help of his father we completed it in 2 days of concentrated play on a rainy weekend. I thought the movie was beautiful to watch as far as cartoons go, and the game is just as beautiful designwise. I like it because you play as the panda and as the other characters, its and easy enough for small kids to play and entertaining enough for adults to join in. Each level requires the character to do different things fighting, flying, shooting, throwing, rolling and a couple of puzzles as well. There is a lot of variety and the scenery changes with each level. The coins you collect allow you to increase various skill levels and buy different suits for the panda and unlock 2 player mini battles for something different. Its definitely a game the kids would play over and over for the entertainment value despite the fact we completed it relatively quickly.
