So you own a next generation console, well its time to play - in my opinion - the first truely next generation game!

Hideo Kojima has always been pushing the bundaries not only in gaming, but also in storytelling and this is absolutely no exception. Anyone who has played MGS 1 -3 will know that as well as an incredibly detailed gameplay experience each game has be accompanied by a very gripping and compelling storyline, that challenges topics of modern debate from genetic experimentation to conspiracies that control our governments and economy.

Not only is it business as usual in this the 4th installment, Kojima also has the monumental task of tying in all of the previous games' stories. And without giving anything away all I can say is he does this beautifully, with enough plot twists to put even the makes of Lost to shame!

Anyone new to the series will find the story to be almost endless, I actually look at this as a "cinematic game", basically your playing a bit of a movie. it might be worth your time playing a bit of the old ones, trust me it'll make this game much more enjoyable. It managed to take me back to the days of playing my Playstation 10 years ago!

However if you enjoy playing games that allow you to apply a whole host of different tactics that require some thought as well as a good - or in this case truely epic - storyline, then this is for you.

As for the gameplay itself you will be blown away! Don't believe me read anyone of the other 400+ reviews for MGS4 on this site alone.

Snake is back, in this the biggest game of the series and with a whole host of new and customizable weapons, familure faces and the odd location that you might just recognise.

this is why i got a ps3 , the wait is finaly over , this mgs is a instant classic , the graphics , story lines and game play are brilliant well worth the long wait. plus i would also like to thank play.com for the limited edtion of mgs4 i bought from yourselfs , its mint , the sanke figure is really worth it aswell plus all the xtra features on the blu-ray dvd. so glad i got my collectors edtion as there are like gold dust on the website , cheers play.com , bring on more limited edtions/ collectors edtion on console games in the future , thanks .bye for now.

The most mindblowing game in the series, the scope of the store is amazing, the soundtrack is awsome. a definate must have if you own a ps3. *****

If you didn't have a reason to buy a PS3 before.. now you have! Snakes final chapter in the Metal Gear series. With cinematic and dramatics to compete with top films, Metal Gear Solid 4, is surely the must have game of the year (If not for many years).

A lot of new elements has been added, for example OctoCam, a new camouflage that will blend you instantly to any wall/floor surface. Also added, the rusty barrel, this is fun. Get in roll and knock down your enemies, don't roll to fast though as Snake will get out and throw up!

Online is solid and addictive!

Overall a must have for any Metal Gear Solid // Action games fan.
