  Best FIFA yet but...

This is fantastic and the best fifa kickabout ever. The play is fluid, the graphics amazing and for once its claimed the football crown and dersevedly so.
It plays a great game and is very vrey enjoyable
But there's still something not quite right. Pre the current gen pro evo on the ps2 was perfection it felt like you were actually playing, every move was intended, crosses were accurate and playing well or badly was down to you.
While this is easily the best footy game of this generation it still feels a little mechanic. You can score varied goals but a lot look very similar. Crosses arent as instintive as they could be and shooting isnt as precise.
This is a minor critisism as this is a very very good football game
I have always purchased and enjoyed both incarnations and fifa now is quite rightly getting all the plaudits. 9/10

  Best Fifa yet

I made the switch from Pro Evo last year and have not been dissapointed so far. This version is very polished. The gameplay is excellent and the sound track is awesome. The be a Pro mode is a good addition. The only reason that this did not get 5 stars is because of the poor free kicks. It is virtually impossible to make them a posotive when attacking. If EA sort this out for the next version then this will be the truly finished article.

Brilliantly detailed, and un-predictable. The realism of the game makes it far more rewarding when you score a blinder. A truly involving game of football.

  Absolutely Stunning

This game is amazing and is a must buy for all football fans although the fifa 10 is coming out in less than 2 months so it might be worth waiting for that.
The graphics are great and the gameplay eclipses any other football game out there by far. This is the one game i have never got bored of and its a definite essential buy!

  Best Footie Game

I was once a PES fan and used to laugh at the basic arcadey football game offered by EA where it was too easy and the ball would be magnetically attracted to the players feet. Long have those days gone. while PES has stagnated over the last few years, FIFA has come on leaps and bounds. By copying PES initially, it has managed to surpass it and plays a much more "organic" game of football. It's hard to explain but it just feels more like playing the game.
Add all the usual perks of the FiFA license, (kits, teams, players) online that hardly lags and this is much better representation of the beautiful game.

Much recommended to any footie fan especially those who have been disappointed with PES over the last couple of years.

  Returning to Pro Evo

Thought I would try out Fifa as I had always purchased the Pro Evo series. I initially enjoyed the game with the inclusion of trophies, something which lacked on the PES series, a very good idea. However, I began to play it more and found out, especially online, that the game doesnt appear to understand the rules of football, which by all accounts is not a good thing.

For a start, the referee will play advantage when a 'last man' challenge has occured, something not feasible in football rules, then return to send the player off when play has ceased. Secondly, the offside rule is not mastered as I never recall the post and/or crossbar being an active member of a squad. This is when, on several occassions, I have seen not just through my play but others as well, goals incorrectly and infuriatingly ruled offside.
Finally, players dont seem capable of doing the jobs you would prefer them to do, or would expect from them given the buttons you press to present the command.

For a game sporting a logo of fair play, it does not always appear fair online and is well worth trying a demo before seriously committing to the game, this applies to future versions. I will be returning to PES under the pretense of it being a better game overall, while still having minor flaws, as all games do, but being far less significant than those outlined here.

  Shockingly good

I've always thought of the FIFA series as being a little arcadey compared to the previously superior ProEvo but after a couple of very poor efforts from Konami and seeing FIFA09 up for £18 I thought I would take a punt and could always trade it in at a local store if it were as bad a I expected. Shocked! Absolutely stunned to the core. This game is such a kick up the backside for ProEvo that I seriously doubt I will switch back to that series. I'm already excited about FIFA10 (something I never thought I would say).

  FIFA 09

Now i know that many people prefer PES but this game is by far better than PES this year. The gameplay is excellent and i truly recommend it over PES. Now that a trophy patch has been released it is now even a better game than before. Trust me sports/gamer fans if you have not purchased this game then you do not know what you are missing out on.

  Much better than PES 2009

FIFA 09 plays better than ever before, and a wealth of new modes and features add plenty of longevity.
