Arm yourself! The 20 year wait is over as Bionic Commando swings back into action! The first true sequel to the classic 1988 Nintendo Entertainment System original, Bionic Commando sees the return of the bionically-enhanced Nathan "R.A.D." Spencer. Time has not been kind to Spencer: five years after his heroic defeat of the Imperials, he has been betrayed by the government he swore to serve, imprisoned for crimes he didn't commit, and sentenced to death.

On the very day of Spencer's execution, terrorists detonate a massive experimental weapon in Ascension City, unleashing an intense earthquake that has turned the city into rubble and wiped out its population. With the terrain in ruins and the city's air defense grid now in the control of a massive terrorist force whose goal remains unclear, the FSA have only one option left - a behind-the-lines assault.

It's the perfect job for a Bionic Commando!
  • Use the bionic arm to swing between towering skyscrapers at breathtaking speed, hook onto distant objects, zip up on hanging girders and choose your own route through the game
  • Gameplay that moves through horizontal and vertical environments - a 3D game that truly uses all three dimensions
  • Full multiplayer mode with rich stat-tracking to check whether you're a true commando or a lowly private
  • Use the power of the bionic arm - and of next-gen physics - to realistically throw massive objects, pummel opponents, whip enemies into the air, or pull the landscape apart
  • Arm yourself with a variety of weapons worthy of a Bionic Commando
  • Starring Mike Patton, the former lead singer of Faith No More, as the voice of Nathan Spencer

If the sales figures are to be believed, then this game has been overlooked by the vast majority of the games playing public which is a real shame.

Grin (the developer) have done a good job with this and although the pacing can be a tad slow at the beginning, the overall game is a polished product and highly playable. Combat is supremely satisfying (although the tinny gun sound for the pistol is disappointing) but some of the more meatier weapons are definitely up to the task at hand. Where this game really excels though is in the use of the bionic arm. At first it seems unwieldy and hopelessly inaccurate but after an hour or two, you'll be amazed with how competent you'll become with it and you'll be grappling rock faces, ripping trams apart and throwing cars and enemies to the floor with consumate ease.

Technically, the game is also very nice and runs on Grin's own Diesel engine which must be commended for a smooth framerate and zero screen tearing. The soundtrack that accompanies the game is also excellent and the sound effects are nicely done (the deep robotic noises the Mechs make are particularly haunting.)

To summarise then, I'd say this really is a shamefully overlooked game and well worth a punt especially now its available at a cheaper price. Highly recommended.

Worth Playing, infact please bring out the sequel to this!

what can i say, i was bit worried of buying thinking they may had killed the classic off. but they didnt, it was abosulute wonderful game and alot of action. only downfall is lack of quality boss, but its a nice game to play, alot of swinging action and very entertaining. i think this easily can be added to my collection as i can play again without being bored. recommended A+

This game had good reviews and do you know what? they where so, so right - it is an awesome game and the graphics are one of the best yet for PS3. The story is slightly short but you can live with that as the game play is kwl - play it on Commando and live the dream!!!

 Ignore the critics

This game is amazing, the graphics, the gameplay, everything.
..Apart from maybe the story, which is a bit cliche.

Swinging elegantly through a jungle, slamming down in the middle of some enemies, lifting a rock up, and throwing it at a mech gorilla was never so satisfying.

Definitely THE best Capcom game of the year so far, and relatively cheap. Do yourself a favour and experience this amazing game, and never listen to critics again, form your own opinions. I did, and it got me one of the most fun games I have ever played.
