The new addition to the multi-million selling series features 30 new tracks, a brand new harmony duet mode, PSP Remote Play functionalities, increased levels of personalisation and an entry point to My SingStar Online - the rapidly growing online SingStar community.

Whether you're an entertainer, a diva, a rocker, a crooner or hip hopster - or even a shy star - there will be something for you on the disc's 30-strong track list. Artists featured include The Killers, Eminem, Kaiser Chiefs, Gorillaz and many, many more. All tracks features the original music video for you to enjoy!

SingStar Vol. 2 will feature a harmony duet mode: a new way of playing that allows two players to sing different lines to a song at the same time, showing off their harmonising skills. This is really your chance to showcase your talent and adds a new dimension to the SingStar experience! Special tracks have been included to showcase this new mode such as Kool And The Gang's "Celebration," Paul McCartney & The Frog Chorus' "We All Stand Together" and The Mamas & The Papas' "California Dreamin'."

As with the first instalment of SingStar on PS3, SingStar Vol. 2 gives players instant access to SingStore, the ever-expanding online download store where extra tracks can be purchased, allowing players to add to their collection of songs and create their own SingStar playlists to suit their party mood. There are currently over 300 tracks in SingStore costing £0.99 per track. Make sure you're part of My SingStar Online, the next-generation community where players can share their performances with the world after capturing them with a PlayStation Eye or EyeToy camera.

this is a quality version of singstar, with some brilliant tunes. i bought it today and can confirm that the songs you have downloaded for the first singstar game do appear on this game, just the songs from the first disk are obviously not available and are replaced by the songs on the volume 2 disc!

Great Addition and more party fun

Vol2. expands the tracklist and offers a new way to purchase tracks for PS3 (albeit an older purchase model akin to PS2).

To answer some reviews questions here are quotes from Threespeech's interview with a sony spokesperson.

"'As with SingStar on PlayStation 2, players can swap between discs and play the 30 tracks from each disc. This is done by entering the carousel, pressing select on the controller and following the onscreen instructions."

"Will songs already downloaded and accessed on the first PS3 SingStar be accessible when players use the second disc?

'Yes, every track downloaded from the SingStore will appear in your carousel and be available to play as normal."

Will the Harmony Mode on SingStar Vol 2 be available to owners of the first SingStar blu-ray disk? Will this be as a downloadable upgrade and will user's be charged for it?

'The new Harmony mode will be available as a free upgrade via the PlayStation®Network. It will be compatible with the specially selected duet tracks. Once the upgrade goes out, we'll be making more of these songs available in the SingStore, and there is a great selection on the vol. 2 disc.'

As for the songs featured on the disc going onto the store, they say theyre working on licensing as its different to disc based media...the next update is on the 27th June, so perhaps its worth waiting until then. Unless of course you have a small HDD in your ps3, in which case buy the disc and save some space.

Props to Sony for giving consumers a choice though I say and remebering that not everyone of the 13million people who bought singstar on PS2 has broadband.

 Reply to question.

If you have Vol 1, it should only be worth buing Vol 2 if you want the new songs and the new mode. I can't see the songs on Vol 2 ever being uploaded onto the SingStore, as they are already on a game. As for the update, I can't see that happening either. if they were going to patch Vol 1, then why release Vol 2 as nobody would buy it. I'm just hoping my downloaded tracks work on Vol 2 as well as Vol 1.

I think this game will be just as fun as Vol 1. It's just the same thing really. I love SingStar, and the track list isn't to shabby. I'll give this a 5.

 Great Fun

Ths is kareoke done right!
Great songs and great fun... The ability to download other songs off the Singstore is just an added bonus and will allow you to keep the game feeing fresh even after a ton of plays... if it starts to feel old and get boring... update your tracks... brilliant idea.
This is my first Singstar game and I loved it that much I went and bought volume 1.
I love the idea of the harmonising although it is very difficult... I don't know if thats just because I'm not much of a singer or not right enough but it does just add to the fun and the laugh you'll have with a livingroom full of friends or family getting in amongst it!
The only minor niggle I have is that the mics aren't wireless and thats only because now we're all so used to having a pretty much cable free gaming experience but at the same time the wires on the mics are pretty long so can stretch a fair distance if you've got someone who can't be beothered getting truely into the spirit and won't move from the couch!
The thing I liked about this over Boogie on the Wii is that everything appears to be available from the get-go... no terrible 'story mode' to work through to unlock all the songs so getting started is as simple as popping on your shades indoors, gathering your entouage and developing your 'I'm the greatest' attitude... prepare to be an instant singing sensation!
A good game and great fun... absolutely buy this
