The gameplay is pretty much the same, but there have been a few tweeks that have completely altered the way you play. the use of the "battering ram" (grabbing an enemy and running through a croud) is now a major part of gameplay, which has to be used. simple tapping of the square will not work anymore, you need to use everything you can, especially the cestus. the cestus (new wolf hands weapon) is extremely useful, especially against large enemies, chimera and centaurs. they are no where near as good as the blades against a crowd of enemies, but can knock larger enemies meaning they can not attack. another factor that has largely altered the game is there is now many more enemies, meaning a more epic game, and new tactics that need to be used to be efficient. if there are any worries about God of War being a button masher and repetitive, that is only correct, BUT, and a big but, only on the easiest settings, the settings of the demo. on the much harder difficulties you CANNOT button mash or you will die very quickly. so as the other 2 god of war games this will be a first day purchase from me, and i hope it will be for you too.

A Fantastic Game of Very High Standards

Graphically this is the best quality I have ever seen beating the previous benchmarks of Killzone and Uncharted 2, from the very 1st moment of loading the game (which has no downloading time) it draws you into its story with the opening credits recapping previous GOW story in graphic pictures the sweeping camera at the start of gameplay as it covers the grounds and area you will be exploring as the game progresses all supported by excellent script and sound.

Unlike other games it really does vary the enemies that attack always throwing surprises at you never letting you settle in to a pattern, it is a very challenging game I played it through on normal mode so far and have lost count of the amount of times I have died fortunately the auto save points are paced just right and you do not spend a ton of time retreading ground you have already done. Once the main game is completed it opens up challenge modes and a very hard difficulty mode which lets you keeps the weapons and any upgrades you have obtained 1st time round.

 Well... (Based on E3 Demo)

...the game is stunning, there's no doubt about that. The graphics, the texture, the gameplay, the weapons, the enemies have all been remastered brilliantly...

...so, what trouble me?

The game resembles the previous two FAR TOO MUCH. The gameplay and enemies, although tweeked in some areas, would leave aspirational Kratos lovers yearning for just that extra bit more.

Now, i may be wrong in saying this because Sony have kept it in secrecy since its revealing at E3 2009; save for the odd magazine previews and online screenshots, and they may just simply restrict us to play and feel and immerse ourselves in as little as possible, in an attempt to make us drool over it as much as the previous two titles.

But this is a gamble, and although will sweep awards in numerous catagories, is beginning to appeal to a narrower target market. It is beginning to attract those who have NEVER PLAYED THE GOD OF WAR SERIES BEFORE. Now, I may be wrong in saying this, again - but, what if I'm not?

This game deserves applaud and commemoration for the last in the series, but its strong similarity may make it only appeal to newcomers, thus meaning Sony will not be generating the revenue they deserve, nor the recognition.

Just keep that in mind, but remember what I said, I may be wrong...

Let the rage of Sparta ride your blades Kratos!

This game is just absolute perfection. I recently just started playing the GOW series starting with the God of War Collection, I was hooked by the amazing and compelling story I HAD to get the third installment! The graphics in this game absolutely prove what High Definition brings to gaming, the textures on the landscapes are perfect, the blood is unimaginably realistic, especially how it drenches Kratos when he gets a "Brutal Kill." The gameplay is also incredible, it feels so smooth and the new weapons and magic additions are just phenomenal! This game is a MUST have! BUT you must play through God of War and God of War II before so you can truly appreciate the story of this amazing series of games.

 Absolutely Stunning

I'm new to the world of HD gaming as my last console before taking a plunge on a PS3 was a Gamecube. Games have moved on. This does not feel like a game but a movie - as the opening credits finshed and I took control of Kratos, my jaw was still on the floor from the astonishing scenes leading into the game. They are stunningly impressive and it takes a few seconds to realise you actually have control of the main character. Once you get to grips with how to move around, you are soon expected to challenge Gods in combat. Although a computer game, they really are as challenging as they should be, and although it does seem as though you move from one set piece to the next, the scale of the game is astonishing. The only other games I've so far played on the PS3 are BFBC2 and CODMW2. GOW 3 is the one I keep coming back to. Gutting a Centaur should not be this much fun.
