What more could anyone want from a console? You get everything you need straight out of the box:
The best games console to ever be released on the market!
Blue Ray/DVD player
Wireless internet conection
Built in hard drive, 80GB is enough for anyone!
SixAxis Dualshock Controller
The best selection of games on the market....easily
Just fantastic! I cannot fault this product in any way at all, only thing i can say is that the extra controllers could be a little cheaper to buy!
Everything from how it looks to how it works is utterly fantastic, it opens up a whole new world of gaming and multimedia entertainment.
Used in conjunction with a HDMI cable and a HDTV this product shines, the graphics on newer games such as COD5, MGS4, and Killzone2 really showcase the Plastation3's abilities, well worth the money for anyone of any age interested in gaming and wanting to upgrade their current system i.e Xbox 360!!
I have just bought a PS3 80gb console it has replaced my aging XBOX360.
I had an XBOX360 for three years. I've had some great times with this console but I've also had some frustrating times. It couldn't play some of my games, it would just crash. (GRAW 2, tiger woods, GTA4 etc.) It was time for a change. At £279.99 the PS3 is now affordable.
Plusses. Virtually sound free. You can hardly hear the console operate. The console is very reliable and doesn't over heat.
Online is completely free. I can search the internet on my 37" screen! Blue Ray. It also plays my WMP files. Games do not scratch and break. (my XBOX360 destroyed some games, the laser became ineffective.) Wireless connection, pads are blue tooth compatible.
Cons. I personally prefer the XBOX controller. Heavier and more robust.
Online gaming is not as good asXBOX live but it's free. (plus and minus)
Some of the games on the XBOX36 boast slightly better graphics. (titles that have converted to the Playstation)
All in all I am extremely happy with this console. Well worth the extra cash.
Well I've finally got me a PS3. I nearly brought a 40Gb one a few weeks ago but saw this 80GB version with Dual Shock Pad was going to be sold for the same price so held out for it (no brainer really).
I have watched a couple of Blu-Ray films on it and was amazed at what was displayed on my 1080p Samsung 40 inch Series 6 LCD TV. I though upscaled DVD's were good but Blu-Ray is something else!!!
Have also played a few games but can't really see a difference in them between the PS3 and my Xbox 360 Elite (both running through HDMI).
Online play? Xbox LIVE wins hands down! The PSN is ok (and it's free) but there's only one winner overall.
Overall they are both great consoles. The 360 does have reliability problems (although I've been lucky and neither my original Premium or current Elite has broke, fingers crossed).
The PS3 is worth buying just for the Blu-Ray because at least you know it oisn't going to go out of date in 6 months like a stand alone player because you get the firmware updates (if connected to the internet).
Either way enjoy!
Hardware:
Better than the 360s. Doesnt break often, has blu ray, wireless, bluetooth, rechargeable controllers all built in. Can play blu ray discs, cds, and dvds.
Games:
The 360 has more exclusives but recently the ps3 has got quite a lot and a great line up for this years. Metal gear solid 4 is one of the most perfect games ive ever played. Graphically killzone 2 is better than any console game so far by quite a bit.
Online capabilities:
Good, but not amazing. its free. Lags more than live and is slower than live, also has less content on store and less features. But it works and is fine for a free service.
Media:
A great media machine. A blu ray player, and an entertainment hub. You can copy any videos, music, ands pictures to your hard drive, and most of them work.
Overall:
Much better media system than the 360, but has a worse online component. For gaming theyre both great. Ps3 comes with a lot of features like wifi out of the box. Its more expensive but theres a reason for the price.
Hope this helped and have fun with whatever system you get .
OK,lets get one thing straight,I had 4 YES 4 360's all RROD,microsoft were useless, each one they sent back was a different one and THEY ALL crashed,so i cancelled my xbox live account, another rip off,got the 60gb ps3 from when it came out,ive had it a year and a half, still as quiet,no hardware probs,as for games well, depends what you want really just the same graphics as 360,some better some worse! BLUE-RAY now we are talking fantastic and my tv is 720p not 1080p awsome! controllers, recharge from ps3,NO BATTERY needed,The only advantage 360 had for me was the online play hence the yearly payment chatting and private chat was brilliant, but hey thats about it,PSN is getting there soon it will be better than microsoft and its FREE,if you want my opinion, and trust me i know, go for PS3....
