The official game of the 2008 season, MotoGP 08 features all the official riders, bikes and tracks from this year's event providing the definitive two-wheeled racing experience. MotoGP 08 puts the player at the centre of the MotoGP experience by letting them join a team and compete alongside their sporting heroes in all three race classes - 125cc, 250cc and MotoGP. The game features a scaled and competitive A.I. which adjusts within limits to give a more enjoyable race experience on the lower levels but shows no mercy in the higher levels.

Up to twelve friends can race on any track from the MotoGP season. Online players will be free to select any bike from the 125cc, 250cc and GP class and race any of the manufacturer bikes, competing in individual races. Players will have the ability to set up a custom match search and create their own match setting of up to twelve players in total.
  • Three different handling models - arcade, intermediate and simulation - provide varied racing experiences and accessibility for all
  • Ride as yourself and compete against riders from the world's premier motorcycling championship - racing up to 33 opponents
  • Select from 125cc, 250cc and MotoGP bike classes with each offering a different race experience
  • Set competitor A.I. to match skill level with four A.I. levels - Easy, Medium, Hard and Champion
  • Pit your riding skills against players from across the globe in a number of online modes
  • Includes new 2008 season additions of night racing and Indianapolis circuit

Simulation mode does as it says

In my opinion i think most people are disappointed by this game as it doesnt meet there expections, of where they can jump on it, and be great straight off, the handling etc takes a while to get use to, you need to practice and build yourself up on the game, which means time and effort, something some people don't want to give,

I am not saying the same is perfect, it's not, it needs some refining, yet jumping onto the simulation mode, does as it should, it reinacts how a bike would handle in the real world. Also some people find a problem with the throttle control especially in the simulation mode, this can be down to actual 'r2' button on the controller rather than the game.

I rate this 5 stars, as well, the game does as it should basically, the graphics are good, it imitates real riding experiences, and provides all classes and riders as well as manufacters

If you want a bike game to race with, this is definitality it, just in career or championship mode, don't expect to to win out of the box

 Best game on ps3!!!!

The graphics are excellent and the menu system/build up is highly polised. All the bikes and riders are in good detail, and the different bike classes handle slightly differently. the 125s and 250s do sound weird....but they do in real life!!!!!!

but the make/break of motorbike games is the GAMEPLAY and this is where motogp 08 comes into its own.

At present the simulation setting is far too hard for me. Too much throttle, hard breaking, wrong cornering and you are off. When/If you get the game you'll understand! but im sure ill master it eventually

So i went back onto arcade. You still can crash but little bumps, hard braking , opening the throttle etc are fine and the racing feels realistic.
Theyr are 4 difficulty settings, easy/medium/hard and champion which alter the AI of competitors. easy is very easy but hard is more than challenging. the last-to-first by the first corner of previous incarnations has gone and battling for midfield positions and finishing top 10 is rewarding. Nothing quite like slipstreaming and passing into a corner only for the oppostion to dive back on the inside!!!!! [on champion setting im at the back about 5 seconds off the pace]

I have no idea if non bike fans will like it but its a must for anyone with a remote interest in racing games or motogp. The game is already worthy of 5 stars and ive not even started career mode or the 50 challenges

ps if anyones wondering if its like riding a real bike.........its a computer game!!!!!!!!!!

 WOW What A Game!!!

This game is fantastic for racing fans. I wasn't too sure whether to buy it or not with SBK 08 not being the best of games but I'm pleased to say, I'm glad I've bought it. The gameplay is great, races are extremely fun, graphics on the bikes and riders are fantastic, the game overall is awesome. The only disappointing thing is that there's no split screen multiplayer and the bike sounds are a little iffy, but, if you're a racing fan, cars or bikes, you need to get this game! *****

 A good fun game!

Well i dont know what some people were expecting, but this game is everything i hoped it would be really! The bikes are great, tracks are good and the gameplay is quality. Its not one of those games i find you can rinse for hours on end but its one im always coming back too. I also love the fact that there is no repetitive commentary and you can just hear the machine going to work! However i am a bit disappointed that there is no 2 player split screen option as that was part of the reason i bought it hoping there would be a 2 player mode. The career and championship modes are great though and you can now choose your helmet and upgrade your bike as you see fit throughout the season, however these modified bikes can also be used in the online multiplayer, which i find gives a fair few people an unfair advantage against those who havent unlocked such perks yet. overall though this is a great arcade game for 30 quid, furthurmore you also have simulation mode for them gamers looking for a bit more of a realistic experience which does take some getting use to but once mastered it is very satisfying going a whole lap or race without falling off, personally im lovin this game and compared to sbk 08 this piddles all over it!

 Great but...

The game is great in career mode but after you've got over the novalty of upgrading class from 250s to motogp the game starts to get a bit boring. The extra challenges are fun though even if some of them are too long.
P.s. The125s and 250s don't sound weird, they sound exactly the same as they do in real life. Like a 2 stroke! :-P
