Emotionally charged, stunningly beautiful and delivering unprecedented dramatic character performance, Heavenly Sword showcases the power of Playstation 3. A dramatic tale of revenge sees Nariko, a fiery red-haired heroine embark on a quest for vengeance against an invading King and his army. The story builds around the ancient Heavenly Sword which once belonged to a powerful deity. It can never be wielded by a mortal without it draining their life-force, killing them within hours.

When the invading King (played by Andy Serkis) destroys the warrior clan that guards the Heavenly Sword, the clan leader's daughter, Nariko, takes up the sword in a desperate fight for survival. Nariko must now pay the ultimate price as she embarks on one last mission of vengeance against the King and his army before her life is finally drawn to a close...

The Heavenly Sword: The Heavenly Sword itself can transform into three distinct weapons, each with its own accompanying fighting stance used by Nariko to vary combat styles.

The Combat Engine: The combat engine can scale up from sophisticated one-on-one encounters to one-on-many, where enemies employ intelligent squad-based dynamics, right up to combat against battalions pushing real-time gameplay and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to unprecedented new levels.

Physics-Based Combat: The physics-based combat allows players to sweep debris against opponents, kick tables to halt an oncoming surge of fighters, smash the enemy into the scenery, or throw bodies into other enemies using "aftertouch" controls.

Wide range of Objects & Weaponry: Heavenly Sword provides a wide range of objects & weaponry including rapid fire crossbows and massively damaging bazookas.

Creative in-game Cinematography: Coupled with real-time story evolvement and amazing set-pieces, Heavenly Sword feels like a blockbuster action movie that takes combat gameplay to new heights.

PlayStation 3: Greater processing power on the PS3 enables more immersive visuals and sound effects in Heavenly Sword, heightening the character performance and combat within the stunningly beautiful environments.

Great game as the3 title says, it sort of reminds me of god of war :) which i love and if your also a fan then this is a must buy for you the gameplay and graphics are amazing and the story is great too just abit too short but its worth it while it lasts i recommend it at 15 pounds good ps3 exclusive

Avoided the hype and listened to the unfair reviews.

I had been watching heavenly sword since before the release of the PS3 and was excited by it. I played the demo and took it for a button basher much like many of the reviews. Graphics were gorgeous and the visuals are extremely well polished. However. I followed reviews that claimed the game to be a repetitive button basher that is too short.

With this in mind I purchased it on platinum to see for myself why it supposedly failed so badly.

Well, I can honestly say that I was pleasantly surprised to find not only a gorgeous game that has been well made but is a nice length as opposed to too short!

Think of it as an arcade game, it is only a button basher if you make it one. Take the time to learn the combos, dif styles and stances and you have a fairly challenging game. Nothing feels better than perfectly blocking an enemy in the middle of a 2000+ battle only to perform a devastating reversal.

The game also makes excellent use of the sixaxis which was never mentioned in reviews. Firing arrows then controlling their flight in slow motion is so satisfying when a direct hit is made with the enemy.

This game is a good straight forward slasher with an interesting story and phenomenal visuals. It is a must buy at this price.

           Good but needs more

Well as others have said the graphics are great. The bad part is that it's just mashing the buttons all the way through with the main character. There was no realy control you just bash the buttons until the enemy dies.

And for me the best part of the game was when you play the secondary character, and when you use the cannons, as you are able to guide the arrows and cannons to the ther targets, which was kindda fun.

The sequel was axed and I can see why, good graphics with average gameplay doesnt sell well, and making it short doesnt help. A hardcore gamer can finish this in less than a day, i've played it for 2 days and am already on the final boss...

A good game to play when you're tierd of your other games

Borrowed this game off a friend. Couldn't be bothered to finish it. The game is very repetitive and doesn't really show off the ps3 that well. I wouldn't recommend this game to anyone. However, if you don't want to spend much and need to give your thumbs a workout, maybe this is the game for you.

           Goddess of War

Heavenly Sword plays wonderfully. At the time of its release there graphics were unprecedented and with gameplay that can only be compared with the incredible God of War series it's definately a great gaming experience. Worth instant mention is how incredible the voice acting and dramatic direction is in this game. I've never seen anything like it in any other game, so that's definately an area where this game shines the most. However, once you've completed it once there isn't really much incentive to play again. You can unlock more combos, artwork and making of videos and you can try your luck again in Hell Mode, but after that there isn't much else to see. Even if they only implemented trophies it would give this game at least some replay value, but I'm afraid that's where it falls short. At a budget price though, it's definately worth a look, if only to see how incredible the acting is!
