This is by far the worst basketball game I have ever played and here I was thinking that it was better than NBA Live 09. Whaat a waste of money... if only i could get a refund.

If you love b'ball then this is a must!
I'm addicted to it at the mo, after getting my hands on it finally on the 7th march 09.......
It looks amazing, and wish that ea would do the same with there kits on the fifa's as they look so real.... Also the features are getting so spot on now, and the sweat is not just on there heads and arms, but you can actually see it form on the jerseys too!
As for the controls, it prob took me 4 - 5 games during the season to get fully used too, and after losing my opening game to the celtics i'm currently at 14-1 with the cavs....
If you love basketball - then 2k9 is def the best game out!

If ur hoppin to play online thn forget about this game, 2k servers r totaly buggered. Worst online game i've ever played. Offline its good tho, potentialy great but half baked unfortunately. Not worth th full price. 6 Out of 10

  Slight disappointment......

The title doesn't tell the full story. When i first played this i loved it, but after trying to get to grips with the controls i found that there was very little variation in changing buttons. I prefer to use the D-pad to move the player and this game wouldn't let me do that. It was very difficult to use the L-stick to move the player or to do any kind of dribbling skills with it. However if you're really into Bball like me, then you'll be very pleased with the rest of the game. Playing a career is very detailed, too much in some parts, and lets you take control of absolutley everything which i was very pleased with.
After i couldn't get to grips with the gameplay controls i bought NBA Live 09, to see if the gameplay was any better. And it was! The ball control is far better, and even though you have to use the L-stick in NBA Live aswell, it's far more responsive and precise. The management side is just as good and entertaining as 2K9 so my recommendation would be NBA Live 09.
PS, i know many people complement 2K9 for being a little smoother, but i haven't found that to be an issue at all. Also, people have said that the players faces and the croud are slightly more detailed in 2K9, but as long as the gameplay on court is better, that's all i'm bothered about!

  getting there

The gameplay is great no real problems there other than sometimes players still layup behind the backboard and consequently go out of bounds although this is not very often. Also playing a season or association franchise has one annoying feature that other players simulated rebound per game are all below 10 bar one or 2 so doesnt reflect actual life counterparts performances. One thing to 2KSPORTS...borrow the become a legend mode from PES 2009 and that will make the game complete

For n00bs = meh. For b-ball fans = BUY IT NOW!!

Simple matter of fact is, this is the best sports simulation I have ever seen. The graphics are absolutely sublime, exceeding all previous 2Ks. The commentary has actually been reworked, the Blacktop games are extremely addictive, The Association will last you the whole year, and the All-Stars no longer miss easy lay-ups. That said, the game is extremely hard, especially for b-ball newbies. And the soundtrack is a load of (expletive removed). But I would still recommend this game to any sports fan.
