The title doesn't tell the full story. When i first played this i loved it, but after trying to get to grips with the controls i found that there was very little variation in changing buttons. I prefer to use the D-pad to move the player and this game wouldn't let me do that. It was very difficult to use the L-stick to move the player or to do any kind of dribbling skills with it. However if you're really into Bball like me, then you'll be very pleased with the rest of the game. Playing a career is very detailed, too much in some parts, and lets you take control of absolutley everything which i was very pleased with.
After i couldn't get to grips with the gameplay controls i bought NBA Live 09, to see if the gameplay was any better. And it was! The ball control is far better, and even though you have to use the L-stick in NBA Live aswell, it's far more responsive and precise. The management side is just as good and entertaining as 2K9 so my recommendation would be NBA Live 09.
PS, i know many people complement 2K9 for being a little smoother, but i haven't found that to be an issue at all. Also, people have said that the players faces and the croud are slightly more detailed in 2K9, but as long as the gameplay on court is better, that's all i'm bothered about!
