I don't think this is a cash in. There are a lot of people out there who don't own every guitar hero which would make this a cheap investment for them to play along to songs from older versions of the game.
There are also people who haven't played guitar hero where this would be all they need.
I don't don't think the developer will make a lot of money back from this so i don't think their ripping anyone off.
If DVD's can get continuosly re-released why can't games?

Rather than voice opinion on what you think of the game, I thought it best to leave comments after actually playing the game.
If you are a fan of the earlier Guitar Hero games then this will be the package for you. It covers some of the earlier and easier songs up to the legendary Bark At The Moon & Through The Fire and Flames.
There will be something for everyone on the setlist no matter what skill level or preference in song style. And reccomend this game even if you just own the Guitar.
There is now an indicator on the quickplay menu to highlight whether the song is a particulally difficuly one to play of the instrument you have chosen which helps when choosing the difficulty.
Another new addition is a progress meter which shows how many stars you are upto with your current score in a song. Good news for those who insist on 5 staring everything (me included!).

Overall this is a solid game and a worthy addition to the Guitar Hero series and I would reccomend this to anybody who is a fan of the series.

I loved the first two games in the series, so i'm glad to see variations of the songs that are actually good quality and playable for all instruments, which is what i'd been wanting for some of the songs since I first played them on GH1/2. While i'm more a Rock-band guy these days I still love the songs in the tracklist so i'll be going for it.

and the purple cover is pretty.

Here Guitar Hero had the perfect opportunity to reward all us loyal fans who have purchased every one of the guitar hero games. No-one would have complained about paying £19.99 or even more radical, how about putting the songs on playstation store and we could all pick the ones we love over the series and just pay for them. BUT NO - At a time when money is tight thank you Guitar Hero for dragging every last penny out of the fans. Plus Rock Band get Beatles and AC/DC and what do we get Aerosmith and particularly classy............ Metallica. Have you heard of Guns & Roses, Oasis or Queen for example but no, I wait with excitement for the next set......................the greatest songs of Casiotone For The Painfully Alone.
