This is the best game I have ever played, and I have played quite a lot. There are so many things to love about this game...the beautiful artwork, the tranquil music, the fighting and the storyline to list a few.
The graphics are spectacular, even though sometimes the frame rate dips. They took away a paper filter from the ps2 one, and that is why it looks so different compared to the PS2 version. They also took the effort to make it widescreen.
I really was sad when I found out that Okami did not sell well when it first came out on playstation 2 (I have that one aswell). Compared to your 'Fifa 2003000' that is just a game with updated graphics that sells very well, this game did not deserve what it received in the gaming industry.
Those tiny details that you get when you play the game, such as flowers coming wherever Amaterasu walks show how hard the Clover Studio team worked to make this game.
If you have a wii, get this game. Even if you have a playstation 2 that you havent played for in ages, dust it off to play this truly epic game.
This is really a classic. Its in the same league as Zelda (i prefered zeldas gameplay though but this games story was better) but comparing it to Zelda is difficult because this game really is unique.
The graphics are one of the best on this console.
The music is excellent.
The story is Epic and whilst at times some things are obvious
some things like real twists are not.
Controls arn't perfect but in reality it doesnt really matter as you still are using the wii remote alot and in creative ways..
I got 45 hrs out of it and the ending was excellent, I got engrossed into it so that to me means it is a really good RPG.
There are plenty of wii titles but a majority of them I would grudgingly pay £40 for but this is worth every penny (i noticed that its £30 here).
I remember playing a demo of Okami for my PS2 and I wasn't keen on it so I never brought it for that console back when it first came out. For me the way you use your Wii Remote to paint with and attack enemies really brings this game alive and if any PS2 game was born to be updated for the Wii then Okami is it. The gameplay feels so much more natural and fluid on the Wii and really gives The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii) a good run for it's money as the best action rpg on the Wii at the moment. Please don't let the fact that you play as a wolf put you off buying this game or the strange Japanese cel-shaded graphics which really do look fantastic with all it's vivid colours. Capcom are in the middle of making a Okami game for the DS which will hopefully be just as excellent as this game is.
One of the greatest video games ever created, this is such a pleasure to play, I actually feel priveleged to have experienced it. The music score stirs so many emotions, often giving a wonderful sense of freedom and zest for life. The artwork in the game is as has been said before, stunning, and the characters are brilliant; I actually cared about what happened to them and the world. You owe it to yourself to play this inspiring and other-worldly game.
I must say for such a cheap game, One which was Originally developed for the ps2 it really does translate to the wii very well.
The Graphics: Looks excellent, its very atmospheric and sticks to the traditional japanese art theme. Yes its not next gen and doesnt look quie like GT5 but the framerate is high, there isnt any slow down and its a pleasure to watch the world change. There are also some quite nice vistas in some areas.
Gameplay: 40 hours plus of zelda style hack slash and adventure exploration. Animated with short cut scenes, boss fights, dungeons and memorable npcs. The main character is similar to Link in that our protagonist doesnt speak and has an accomplice that does the yacking. Cute but annoying as in the zelda games.
The difficulty curve i feel is somewhat higher than zelda, Particulary the latest edition (twilight princess) and i would not reccomend this game for someone new to the action adventure genre. There are many humerous points as with many japanese productions and they can lighten the mood of the legend. (the lore in this game is based on what we would call japanese fairytales)
Sound: The music is very atmospheric as with the graphics, The characters voices however are quite aweful but this doesnt really detract from the overall experience.
Overall Great value for money and a somewhat serious game for the WII which it lacks!. The wii controlls can be frustrating and i know most people have found this but its a minor niggle and for such a low price i would reccomend to anyone
