In the grand racing tradition of Excitebike, get ready for a big-air experience like no other! Players rocket their trucks across dynamically changing terrain in this nitrous-injected, high-flying racer for speed junkies. Showing the Wii Remote controller's versatility, players tilt the controller on its side to turn it into a wireless steering wheel!

In Excite Truck, the main goal is to jump and bump to the highest score and best finish. The more points players gain, the higher their status grows - which in turn unlocks new courses. When players first start the game, they'll need to pass a series of tutorial challenges that teach the basics of driving and racing a truck. After they've completed those challenges, they can enter Excite Mode and race against other trucks in a series of globe-spanning races.

During the race, they hold the Wii Remote sideways and turn it to steer around corners and fly off of huge jumps. In the air, players can tilt the Wii Remote to control their descent. If they land with all four tires touching the ground, they'll get a massive speed boost. Each dangerous stunt players pull off will earn stars. The total number of stars players earn determines their race rating. As players complete series of races, they will unlock even more challenging racing courses.
  • Remember tilting your arms while playing Excitebike to try to make your character land a huge jump? That experience is finally a reality with Excite Truck.
  • Players hold the Wii Remote like an NES controller to control the truck. The 2 button is the accelerator, the 1 button is the brake, the + Control Pad is the turbo... but that's just the beginning. Tilt the Wii Remote controller right and left like a steering wheel to steer. Once the truck goes airborne, tilt the Wii Remote controller every which way to line up the wheels for landing boosts.
  • Pick up items on the courses to make the terrain deform in real time, turning innocent bumps into massive launch pads that affect not only the player's route, but that of his or her rivals. Players jump and bump their way to the highest score and highest finish.

 A Unique Racing Experience

One of my favourite racing games ever.
The Wii Remote acting as a steering wheel works excellently and feels completely natural as it sucks you deeper into the pure adrenaline-filled racing experience of Excite Truck.

Most racing games require you to finish the race as fast as you can and hit first place. However, Excite Truck takes on a star feature, which adds a lot more depth to the races. Stars are given out on a scale of 1-5 for several things, like obliterating opponents cars, staying airborne for as long as possible in a jump and narrowly avoiding multiple trees. You also get bonus stars at the end depending on your position.
The more stars you get, the higher your overall rank for the race will be!
Another feature that makes Excite Truck unique is the ! tags dotted around the maps that when collected will create some sort of environmental change, whether it be the ground shifting to create a ramp where there was once flat dirt, hazards like boulders tumbling down a mountain or the appearance of a volcano!

As well as the races, there is also a challenge mode. While you won't be spending as much time on these, they are also great fun. There are a few options, like Gate, which has you driving through gates along a course as quickly as possible.

Whether you're genre fanatic or new to racing games, Excite Truck is a real treat and should satisfy. Not to be missed.

Mad, Fast & So Much Fun

When I got this game I thought it was going to be short lived. 2 weeks on I am not 1/2 way through. It's fast, mad & great fun at the same time & not as easy as it first appears. Definitely recommended as a driving game & works great on the Wii well worth the reviews on play.com especially at such a good price.

this game is now only £25 so we bought it after reading the other play reviews. it is fun too play in two player mode the speed is great but one of the best features is being able to listen to your own tunes via the mp3 stereo mode ! only let down is there is no online head to head .

The 2nd best racing game on the Wii after Mario Kart!

Excite Truck uses the same excellent Wii wheel controls as Mario Kart Wii which is fantasic fun with it's massive air jumps. To gain extra points in a race you can smash your rivals out the way and do crazy jumps through hoops. If you are feeling brave slam on your turbo boost and watch the track become a blur. Don't over use your boost or your engine will over heat. Excite Truck is a excellent fast wild racing game which is set in beautiful locations around the world. One of the things which is cool with Excite Truck is, if you have a SD card for your Wii you can download music onto it off your computer and have your own music playing instead of the original game music. The Excite Truck instruction booklet explains how you can select music off your SD card for the game. My mates and I have great fun racing eachother in 2 player. Overall this is a very good racing game for the Wii and another great racing game called F - Zero is going to be out this year hopefully.

 Exciting & Addictive

Yes...it doesn't have everything, but few games have. However what it does have is really, really good. Multi-player is weird on a split screen but it is playable (feels better if you don't play single player first). Single player can be repetive, but when you play it you'll find your unlocking trucks left, right and centre! Has anyone mentioned you can play mp3 files from your SD card?

This is just one of those games where it's not as good as it could be, but is so fun it is well worth buying.
