4 Amazing simple yet effective game, but not the best versionTalicus | 10/10/2008 | See all Talicus's reviews (12)Puzzle Quest is a great way for both "casual" Bejeweled fans to enjoy a deep story with an amazing battle system that puts you Bejeweled skills to good use, or for "die-hard" gamers who wish to put a little bit more thinking into their RPG's. The game features a lengthy campaign mode in which you will defeat enemies (mostly quest based, some "random" encounters) by lining up 3 jewels of the same type. This will level you up, give you stats points (which can be put to use differently depending on which character type you have chosen at the start) and unlock special skills which can be put to use after lining up a certain amount of gems. All in all, there is nothing wrong with the concept and it's a great game on the DS because of it's touchscreen, and also playable on PSP, XBLA and PS2 although it's slightly slower. While the Wii version is far from "unplayable ", it requires some precesion with your Wii Remote to line up the jewels correctly, which can be annoying for the more stressed gamers. There's not a very severe penalty to not lining up jewels correctly, but it's quite annoying if the computer enemy can complete a great combo because of a Wii Remote screw-up. Also, some have complained that the text can be a little bit hard to read at times, but I haven't encountered that problem with my Wii, being hooked up to a HD TV with component cables. In short: Great game, must buy on any system, but get it for another system if you can and if it's the same price.
