Top 100  Reviewer Top 10 Games Reviewer

I bought My Sims the day it came out and couldn't wait to try it out. When I did I was a little surprised at the style of the game, however over a little time I came to love it!!

The game begins with you coming to a town that has been destroyed and you have to rebuild it with your excellent building skills. I found this a little difficult to get use to as it is a big change from the other Sims games, anyway I kept an open mind and as the game progressed I progressed to like it. In my opinion My Sims is like the better bits of Animal Crossing, Harvest Moon and The Sims for the pc (without all of the expansion packs that can cost from £12.00 to £25.00 each), you have to wonder why it took someone so long to do this.

From the word "go", the attention to detail, style and polish is there in spades. Your first task is to create a character, a job that introduces you to the game's fantastically simple but extremely effective creation system. It offers a huge range of different clothing designs, hairstyles and facial expressions; you can even for the first time change the pitch of your Sims voice!!! You can also change your clothes any time you like as well!!

And now the reel thing begins, where you are told by the mayor that the town could do with someone to fix it up (yes that's you). First things first though you will need a base of operations if you are going to do anything around here. And so you are introduced to the workshop, a place where you will be spending an awful lot of your time. It is here where you will be building and creating items, from chairs, to cupboards, to beds, to baths and even to full- blown houses, your workshop is your main method of getting people back to the town.

The graphics of My Sims are also something to watch out for, the cartoon style graphics actually suit the game and for me they are a nice touch. You can also choose who you want and don't want to live in your neighbourhood- very useful!!!

Overall My Sims is an adorable little game in one sense but a very well thought out game in another sense that caters for the creative and caring personality that hides away in all of us. And never fear if you're completely evil then My Sims caters for that too. Be demonic and go around causing trouble if you must- there is a different side to this game for all you mischief-makers as well. EA has taken several little genres and moulded them into a rather charming little game.

        - Superb workshop system.
        - Lovely style of graphics
        - Good mix of gameplay styles
        - Oh so so so addictive

        - No online sharing option (hence why it didn't get the full 5 stars)

        Overall: 8.5/10
        Gameplay: 9/10
        Graphics: 9/10
        Workshop System: 9.5/10

         Shoddy, Laggy and Disappointing.

I was a bit skeptical about this but i decided to buy it anyway and give it a chance and if i'm honest i feel like i have been cheated out of £30 for a shoddy, rushed and shallow gaming experience. The main focus of the game is that your character is a builder with a rare talent for adding essences of different items such as apples or flowers to the things you build, and so the main aspect of this game is that you have to build things for people.

When someone wants to move into your town they go and stay in the hotel and from there you can invite them to live in the city. When they say yes the first thing you have to do is choose a plot of land and then build them a house or shop. Then if it is a character who runs a shop they will have a few items of furnature missing for one reason or another and will ask you to build them for then.

Normally i like this kinda game because you are free to do other stuff rather than get on with the main aim of the game if you want but this is the problem with MySims. All you can really do is go fishing or go prospecting for essences, which are useles unless you want to build things. I found that i quickly grew tired of the repetitiveness of building a new character a flower stand or a stereo and you realise that once you get bored of that there's really nothing else to do in this game. Everything you can possibly do in this game either involves building or collecting essences.

But i could live with a game like that if it weren't for the absolutely rediculous amount of lag that this game has. I don't think for a second that this has anything to do with the Wii not being powerful enough, beause it sounds to me like EA have purposely written this game onto the disk in the worst was possible, you may find that you actually have to turn the volume up on the TV to drown out the death rattles that come from the console as you play this game. With my limited knowledge of this sort of technology it sounds like the data files for this game have been scattered willy nilly across the disk so the disk reading laser is constantly leaping about trying to find the right information to load. I think this contributes greatly to the Lag.

Now so far on the Wii i haven't found many games that lag but the one i can think of is Alien Syndrome which has a timy bit of slowdown in coop during the bigger fights and i am fine with that, but MySims lag is completely nonsensical and random, sometimes you will be running through an empty section of your town where nothing is going on and it will suddenly judder to a halt for a few seconds. WHY???

One more bizzare element to this game is that you'll find that sometimes if you go into a building it will load in about three seconds, but if you leave and then go back in it could potentially take about 10-15 seconds to load the exact same stuff it loaded in 3 seconds last time. Why??

In Conclusion, if you are patient and have a lot of time on your hands along with an appreciation for simulation games where you can only do two things then by all means go for this game, but i would advise mostly everyone else to ignore this completely as it is a bit of a disgrace by EA. We are supposed to be living in an age where games are greatly improving and adding more and more depth and freedom and this game makes one giant backwards leap....
...The graphics and animations are quite cute though..

         Totally Amazing :D

This game is brilliant, like the other Sims games it is so addictive. The graphics are really cool as well - what I think is a good addition to the Sims saga is that you can select the voice the your Sim has it's amazing. The only thing I can put against it at the moment is it loads quite a lot throughout the game it seems what ever you do it needs to load - it doesn't take long it just can get a bit annoying

         Great Game and Addictive

I have always loved the sims type games but always find myself cheating and getting extra money to build massive houses! THis game hoever you dont need to cheat. Its light hearted and addictive and the world grows bigger in each stage. Lots to do but i can understand that some people might find the building items a bit repetative. Geat to buy if you like cheery graphics and light hearted fun.

         Okay for a while.

Not a very challenging game, and designing furniture with bits of apples stuck in them is quite bizarre.
I haven't managed to complete the game due to the frustratingly slow loading times and the lag that has developed since hitting the halfway mark.
Nothing like the DS version really; this IS the better game, having more depth, but the DS version runs a lot more smoothly.
Overall I have enjoyed playing it when whiling away a few hours, but it's certainly nothing special.
