My Word Coach offers a fun and challenging way to improve verbal skills through a series of engaging activities and exercises.

The game was inspired by ongoing vocabulary acquisition research by Thomas Cobb, University Professor in Applied Linguistics at the University of Quebec. Enjoyable activities include word recognition, spelling challenges, and vocabulary definition, including 16,800 words from the Cambridge Advanced Learner's Dictionary.

When you play, My Word Coach assesses, monitors, and rewards your Expression Potential, a score that represents your ability to command and use the English language. The higher the number (out of a possible 100%), the better you are able to express yourself!

Features:

  • Over 16,500 words and definitions using the Official Cambridge Dictionary
  • 3 difficulty levels
  • 4 different personal coaches to choose from
  • Save data for 3 people so the whole family can play
  • 6 Core Training Exercises:

    • Missing Letter - Find the missing letters. In harder levels words have an incorrect letter, replace it with the correct letter.
    • Split Decision - Choose the correct definition for a given word.
    • Pasta Letters - Spell out words from letters sinking in a soup. In easy levels, letters are displayed in the right order before being mixed in the soup. In harder level, only the definition will be displayed and you will have to figure out the word which needs spelling.
    • Block Letter - In this Tetris like exercise spell any of the listed word with the blocks. When a word is correctly completed, it's blocks are removed.
    • Word Shuffle - Choose the correct definition for a given word. You will then be given a new list of words and must find the correct word for the definition.
    • Safecracker - A word is the code to a safe. Using the definition you must write the correct word as fast as possible to beat your opponent.

     An OK Game

I got this game free with my Wii console, and i am actually really liking it.
You create your own character, and have your own teacher. There are numerous word puzzles to play, and you unlock more as you get better. Some are really fun too, like word cereal.
It is also really good in that you tilt the wii remote to change options, and it is all really interactive.
Once you hit a certain score you get reassessed for improvement, (or not) and you have a word knowledge score/level. It is a similar concept to brain academy in that way.
It is a real good game for those who are competitive, and it does get addictive.
However, i don't think it is worth the price tag. I would wait for it to come down a bit in price, or buy it pre-owned.
    My advice: buy it later.

     Basic game...

This game is fine if you are not expecting too much and think if you paid £30 for this you may feel abit cheated!!

It is ok but nowhere near as good as brain academy. The whole look of it is basic and some of the games such as word cereal feels quite un-user friendly.

After a few games i found it abit tedious but it's fine if you've paid a tenner for it and like i said dont have too many high expectations!!

     not for the young...

I bought this for my 4 1/2 year old son since it's age 3plus, but it is defintely not suitable for such a young age. There's so much reading involved - i can't imagine there's any kids his age capable of doing this. Only played it once with him where I was reading out loud to him but even then he couldn't assist so the playability and entertainment for him only lasted 10 minutes. Maybe it's designed to be used by parent/child together or for a child of at least 7 years.....not what I expected at all, On a positive note - glad it was only £8.99 so I don't really feel ripped off :)

     can't get excited by it

As non native speaker, I bought this game to improve my english. I found this game disappointing. I does get a bit better once you unlock new games, but its not worth more then 5 euros in my opinion.
