This is brilliant, easy at first and tricky as hell on the later levels, what a REAL video game should be, pure gameplay with genius level design.....a must!
Super Mario Bros on the NES was the first Nintendo game I played many years ago and it was a top class platformer and still is to this day. I have been playing New Super Mario Bros. Wii with my partner and it is harder then the DS Mario game which I prefer but she doesn't. We are having a great laugh playing as a team and we sometimes kill eachother by mistake. Nintendo have taken the best parts from Super Bros 3 on the NES and the best parts from Super Mario World on the SNES and have overall made the best 2d Mario platformer of all time with it's insane four player mode which is fantastic fun. The graphics look wonderful and just for me and maybe other long term Nintendo fans this game is more fun then Mario Galaxy. You get to play as Mario, Luigi, Blue Toad or Yellow Toad and best of all are friend Yoshi is back to ride on and help us out. Mario has some great new power-ups such as the Propller Mushroom which is great for reaching hidden areas high up in the air. The Ice Flower lets our hero chuck ice balls that feeze ememies and was used in Mario Galaxy but is the first time for a 2d Mario platformer. The Penguin Suit is great for when you are swimming and also allows you to throw ice balls. For me this is the best Nintendo game on the Wii this year and everybody who has a Wii should buy this game right now because it really is Nintendo at their best!
This is the best game in my house. There is lots of bowsers, one is purple and he is in world 2. My favourite bit is when I pick one of the other characters up and throw them .Me and my sisters like riding
on the yoshis and I like spitting my sisters out of yoshis mouth.

I hope the graphics-obsessed kids don't let the lack of high definition and cutting edge graphics put them off procuring this game, because I can tell you now, this is better than any generic wartime first-person shooter.
Nintendo have taken the if-it-aint-broke-why-fix-it approach with this latest mario installment, which was the right thing to do. The 2D mario games are some of the most addictive games you could ever play and this latest is no exception.
Everyone with a Wii should buy this game; it deserves to be game of the year.
I was very worried about this game initially. Although I loved the DS version at first (and rather hastily wrote a review which I don't agree with now!) I found that it had no real innovation and the levels were not intresting and fresh enough. This mario however is by far the best and in my humble opinion, up in the top 3 of best mario platformer games. As I've mentioned it manages to be new and fresh yet the feeling of warm nostalgia begins to flood from the first level, beautiful colours, sounds and addictive yet often frustrating gameplay combine to make this an unforgetable experience. Attention to detail is excellent, I love it when the baddies jump in time to the music. They are so cute you almost don't want to stomp on their heads, but die they must. Be warned though, this game gets progressivley harder and harder and the old save mechanic from days of yore still apply, when you die, you will be transported back to the place you were last allowed to save (although quick save option is now available) I wouldn't really recommend it for under 10s as I'm strugglingo on world 5 and I'd like to think of myself as a seasoned game player! Watching my cousin who is 9 playing on it (or trying to) I realised it wasnt for a very young crowd. So, to conclude, this title is essential for anyone (over 10) who owns a Wii its a fun, innocent, addictive game and the multiplayer option really adds a new, sociable dimension to it. Platformer games are enjoying a renaissance on the wii system and it really can't get any better than this.
