The Galactic Federation's Base Sector Zero is under attack by Space Pirates. Samus must boot up the generator to restore the defense systems. But at the end of her path, someone awful is waiting for her.

The war initiated by Dark Samus and the Space Pirates rages across many planets as they attempt to corrupt each with Phazon seeds. Players use the Wii Remote and Nunchuk to explore alien landscapes, hunt for weapons and information, and destroy the seeds. Saving the planets from Corruption isn't enough, though. Eventually, players must take down Samus' mortal enemy, Dark Samus.

Besides using the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers to pull off amazing feats like aiming and blasting in midair or at a full run, players also will have an array of different weapons at their disposal. In true Metroid fashion, these will become powered up as the game progresses. Not only that, but the controller will be used for a number of other game elements beyond the traditional firstperson shooter standards.

First-Person Perfect: Players control Samus by moving with the Nunchuk controller and aiming with the Wii Remote controller, allowing for a level of immersion unlike anything they have ever experienced. It's a quantum leap in first-person control.

Wonderful Weapons: Samus employs well-known power-ups like the Grapple Beam and Morph Ball, as well as new surprises, to help her survive. Using the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers, players will be able to grasp and pull things by using actual arm movements, as well as execute amazing feats like aiming and blasting in midair or at a full run.

Phazon's Powers: The game also incorporates a new system involving Phazon. If you fill Samus' Phazon supply to a certain level, Samus will temporarily go into hyper mode, a state in which she can pull off incredible feats. On the flip side, if she exceeds the maximum Phazon level, she'll perish. Also, for the first time in the Metroid series, Samus' ship will be used in active game play.

Makes all the hassle of getting a wii worth it.

Having finally resorted to selling my soul to satan ( or so it seemed) to get my hands on the much acclaimed Wii, I was left wondering whether all the effort had actually been worth it.
Yeah, I enjoyed Wii Sports and was pleasantly awed by the way the Wii-mote translated my movements on screen. But I could see how the novelty of swinging a remote control at my TV could soon wear thin. Which it did. Really Quickly. So off i popped to the shops with my christmas money in hand and bought myself a shiny new copy of metroid prime 3. And i am glad i did as its proved to be one of the most intuitive, inventive and engaging games i have ever played. on any console. I have spent every waking moment since buying this trying to figure out what i need to do next or engaging in the brilliant boss batles. My missus now wants me to get rid of the wii or get a divorce as ive played it so much and now she doesnt know who died in Eastenders. And Casualty. Or Hollyoaks for that matter.

There isnt really much more to say. If you've got yourself a wii and are bored with punching away at thin air already, Go Buy This Now!! Seriously it is that good. I could heap hyperbole on it all evening if i didnt have to sign some divorce papers but about the highest praise i can give is to let you see it for yourself

The most beautiful game on the Wii and it is a must have.

When I had a SNES back in the 90's one of my all time favourite games was Super Metriod it blew me away at the time. I got Metriod Prime Hunters on the DS which is great too and very hard maybe a bit too hard. I'm glad to say Metriod Prime Corruption is the best Metriod game yet and is'nt as hard as Prime Hunters on the DS. Corruption really shows off the Wii in all areas and Retro Studios should be given a medal for perfecting the Wii controls with their first game on this system. The game starts off slowly so that you can get use to the controls and your surroundings. As you progress through the game the graphics get more and more impressive. Samus's is a sexy deadly bounty hunter who has a very powerful weapon that chargers up and she can also turn into a ball. Sometimes you need turn into the ball to solve puzzles and you can drop little bombs to blow stuff up whilst in ball form too. The boss battles are fantastic and very intense. If you are hungry for more Metriod that uses the same great Wii controls, then you will be pleased to know that the first two Prime games are being redone for the Wii.

The wii devoid of hardcore games? Think again...

Sure, it's brilliant that the wii is trying to get everyone playing games, but those of us who like our bosses big and meaty, our enemies in droves and pinning us down with impossible odds, and our puzzles hair-rippingly hard to solve, we weren't really catered for after twilight princess! These woes have been solved though...

Follow Samus Aran in her 3rd 'prime' game (Discounting hunters), as she tries to rid the world of the evil dark-self that mimics her traits, and primarily focusses on infecting all of the planets in the galaxy and destroying all of their indigenous lifeforms.

From the word go, the training level aboard a facility gently welcomes you back to the controls if you're a little rusty (Prime fans!) or if you are new, coaxes you into skillfully mastering the art of playing with the remote and nunchuk. It's safe to say that retro studios have benefitted from the extra production time on this title. The controls are so slick, fluid, and responsive, that you'll be shooting enemies with pinpoint accuracy and rolling slaloms in your morph ball in no time! The action soon kicks in after just 20 or so minutes of playing, and the level of immersion is incredible! Whether it be due to the shiny, polished visuals and jaw-dropping set pieces, to the huge-scale and difficult boss battles, or the superb rempote control that lets you interact with so much of the environment, you'll be absorbed, i guarantee you!

The storyline as usual, is nothing incredible, but does a good job of keeping you hooked, and you really feel for Samus and her fight to keep the Phazon freak under control.

The soundtrack and locales are as always, awe-inspiring, with jungles, huge temples, and even space stations given to you as playgrounds to solve your puzzles in, and duel deadly creatures.

However, it's not just the controls and graphics that have been enhanced...there are loads of new features in MP3 to pull fans back in. Sure, those who didn't like MP1 and MP2 probably wont like this either, but for those who did...

There is now full voice acting for most of the major NPCs in the game, which helps to involve the player more in the surroundings and the gameworld, and you are no longer fighting for wasteland planets without inhabitants...these are people whose lives are at stake!

An awesome new feature called Hypermode is included, that lets you clear rooms of enemies in second, at the expense of becoming..."Corrupted"...muahahaha!
No really, go crazy with this for too long at any one time, and Samus will be permanently taken over by the Phazon coursing through her veins...that's bad!

Also now included are several planets (a la metroid prime hunters), but with a further twist of convenience, each has it's own set of multiple ship docking points, meaning that backtracking is cut back by a huge amount, something that was expressed as displeasure by many of the fans and non-believers of the series since it's beginning.

It's hard to believe that something this good could really exist for the wii just a year after release, but it really is a work of art, and a joyous game to play. Buy it, play it, and love it for the rest of your happy days.

    Pros:
+ Easy to pick up and skillful controls.
+ New features like multiple drop points make backtracking less of a chore.
+ Voice acting and NPCs included add to immersion.
+ Awesome sounds and pumping musical themes.
+ Huge game map with loads of secret niches to explore.
+ Classic metroid gameplay, with rockhard bosses.
+ The best possible end to the series.

    Cons:
    - Might be a little too difficult for inexperienced gamers!
    - Won't sway you if you didnt like 1 and 2.
    - It's the end of the Metroid prime series...*SOB*

     BEST shooter on wii.

    | | See all RiChIsKiNg's reviews (19)

It would definatly be the best shooter on any console if it had online, but unfortunatly it doesn't. That is the only problem with this game, everything else is perfect. If this is indeed the last metriod game, then what a way to end it.

    Overall:95%

    Special requests:
Metroid online with maps from every metriod game (new maps that can be downloaded)
A Metriod special edition set that includes every game from the series in 3D.

i have a lot of friends with 360's and theyre always banging on about halo 3 and bioshock, i finished both in a weekend.
got metroid prime 3 yesterday and have played it for 9 hours or so already, im still learning.
its brilliant. i really cant say enough good things about the control system, it is intuitive to the point of telepathic, the visuals really push the wii to its limits, the story is part "alien", part "starship troopers", part "star wars".
    it's gripping.
now the one thig that raises it above halo and the like is that the puzzles and adventure elements are so well implemented. you'll kick yourself after solving them but theyre so well balanced it's unbelievable.
the physical aspects of the wiimote and nunchuck are used to full advantage wether opening dors, tearing sheilds away frome enemies (such a good feeling) or just plain using the wiimote to aim. it's slick as a greased up jessica alba.
my girlfriend has never played an fps game before, hates games in that style and generally prefers the likes of crash bandicot. after 10 minutes she was hooked, the NPC's draw you right into the story, dark samus is ominous as ever, the enviroments are superbly done and i generally love this game.
the wii needed this game, thank god it arrived and heres to mass appeal.
