I was a bit apprehensive about buying this one. The Gamecube version was fun for a while, but didn't take too long until it was gathering dust on a shelf. The Wii control system, however, has given this game a whole new lease on life.
To begin with you have the story mode - if you can call it a story. At certain points I was wondering just what the developers were smoking at the time, but my 7 year old son and I found many of the quick-fire microgames laugh-out-loud. You're quickly told in a very amusing, but mystic kind of way how to hold the controller then off you go. Five seconds to scrub that cow's backside, pluck that unsavoury green lump out of the hairy nostril or waft away the stench coming from Wario's trousers...
Once you have the story mode complete - which shouldn't take too long - the game comes into it's own with the multiplayer games. Forget the wrist strap, you'll literally be throwing the Wii controller at each other in a frenzy! Playing one multi-player game opens up another, meaning the game will offer a lot more variety than the original Gamecube version and won't find itself so quickly on that shelf.
There are also a number of single-player games unlocked in the story mode which will keep you amused for a while. Bouncing a ball as far as you can up through an obstacle-filled tower is a lot more addictive than it sounds! But I have to say, my personal favourite is one of the later 'Boss' stages in the story mode. Grab that Wiimote and copy the on-screen dancers performing moves that would put Travolta to shame. This could possibly make a game in it's own right - though you'd better shut those curtains unless you want some weird looks from the neighbours.
Overall, great family fun - just what you woulld expect from Nintendo!
Anyone who hasn't had their sense of humour surgically removed will find this game hilarious and enjoyable to play. The action is incredibly fast-paced, which means that this game may not be to everyone's taste. When you first start playing, it can be frustrating because by the time you figure out what you are supposed to do the time limit has already expired. After a few tries though, the controls are very easy to settle into. The sheer randomness and absurdity of the minigames has had everyone I know in histerics, and the animated sequences that procede each level are very humourous. I really loved the renditions of older consoles and games, especially the StarFox boss level. Once you have completed the single player, the multiplayer becomes available with four modes to choose from. The handy thing is that the multiplayer requires only one WII controller and yet supports up to 12 players, so I would heartily recommend this to anyone who has recently bought a WII console and only has the one remote.
Great game once you get into it.dont be disheartened on the first day it gets better.
If you don't have friends, do not buy this game. However if you do and those friends like to come round to your house, drink your beers and eat your food, buy this game.
Everyone of my mates who has played lifeline has then gone out and bought a wii with this game.
Kudos Wario....
For single-player game, it's okay but don't expect much - i played for a couple of hours, then was shocked to find that I'd finished it!!
But...once you finish, multiplayer is unlocked and that's where the fun begins! Darts is fun, and the bungee-buddies game is hilarious. Sudden death is also fun with friends.
I'd recommend it, but for it's multiplayer alone.
