In 2007, Super Mario Galaxy took the world of video games by storm. Now this first true Mario sequel in years re-energizes the franchise with new levels and new power-ups. Plus this time Mario gets to team up with his dinosaur buddy Yoshi, who adds new possibilities to the gravity-defying game play. It's everything you love about the first game and more.

  • Mario collects stars as he travels from galaxy to galaxy. Every level is new, but the game retains the charm, sense of wonder and beauty in line with Mario's history. Mario works his way through the various levels, sometimes upside-down, sometimes floating from place to place.
  • On some stages, Mario can find an egg, smash it open and hop onto the back of Yoshi. Yoshi can use his tongue to grab items and shoot them back at enemies, or to snag attach points and swing across chasms. Yoshi has an interesting diet. When he eats a Dash Pepper, he gets so hot
  • and frenzied he can run up steep inclines and vertical walls. When he eats a Blimp Fruit, he inflates like a balloon and floats to new heights.
  • New power-ups include a drill that Mario uses to tunnel through the planet's surface all the way to the other side of a planet.
  • Skilled players will want to collect new Comet Metals, which will unlock harder Levels with even more challenges.

How do Nintendo do it Super Mario Galaxy is still one of the best games on the Wii and along comes Super Mario Galaxy 2 which improves on it in every way. This is the first 3D Mario game to give us a map like in New Super Mario Bros Wii and was first used in Super Mario Bros 3 on the good old NES. We can ride Yoshi at last in a 3D Mario and it's fantastic fun with his long tongue gripping onto stuff as you jump or fly your way around the levels. The graphics look stunning and the Wii controls are just a great as the first game. Mario has some new moves such as being a drill where you can mine straight through any soft surface. Cloud Mario and Rock Mario are two more great costumes for our plumber hero. It doesn't have the same impact as the first Mario Galaxy and it's a bit harder too but, then again it was Super Mario 64 that had the biggest impact out of the 3D Marios because it did it first. For me this is the best Mario game yet and it's hard to see how Nintendo can do anything better but I expect they will because they always find new fresh ways to keep Mario the king of platformers.

 What a game

I Bought super mario galaxy 1, and i thought that this was the best mario game ever to be made. the levels were AWESOME, the graphics were great and the gameplay was just fantastic, but i was only able to collect about 40 stars..
Soon as this game came out i just had to get it, and i was thrilled, there wasnt any need to check the DVD inside to watch how to play, i just wanted to get going. The gameplay slightly reminded me of new super mario bros wii, which was good because that is also a fantastic game. About a month in and im only on 35 stars, this is good, a long lasting game that doesnt take 2 days to complete. If your looking for a one player game very similar to all the platform mario games, then this game is a MUST BUY, even if you dont like mario you should buy this. Its just amazing.

 Need I say more...

When so many people have sang its praises? But I will just in case you havn't got the message yet so there. Astoundingly amazing, this game manages to be even better than it predecessor. A new ability or twist is introduced in almost every level from start to finish its just jam packed with new features. It looks pretty much the same, with the same storyline and goal as the first so my only negative comment would be that it doesnt have quite the same impact as the first. But when the first game was so close to perfection they couldnt do much more to perfect it, but of course Nintendo managed it. If you are wondering which game to get, get both, really they are that essential and you can find the first one for a bargain, often about a tenner. But if you really must choose one or the other, get this one! They have also improved on the co-op mode so whilst player 2 is not actually a proper character they can kill enemies and collect coins as well as starbits. Even the fact that player 2's cursor has a cute little orange star running after it makes player 2 feel more immersed and involved, great for the little 'uns who wont be able to play it properly. The game also features hint tvs and a cosmic guide to help younger players or inexperienced gamers along, a real Nintendo motto at the minute making games more accessible to everyone which I love. Enough blathering, get on with it and order a copy!

 Mario is really Super!

Mario Galaxy 2 is a great game, great graphics and good game play. All though if you havn't played Galaxy 1 yet i'd play it first as it would give you a good understanding of MG2. Like any Mario game before it and like this one it has a lot of re-playable moments, I still play Super Mario World and that's about 18 years old. People will still be playing Mario Galaxy 2 in 18 years time! if you havn't bought this yet, I'd say buy it whilst it still has the DVD and it should not be missed from your collection.
