The nintendo wii is a realy fun and entertaining console FOR THE FAMILY it has a realy good variety of FAMILY GAMES. The controlls are good. BUT if you want a console for your family then get a ps3 or a xbox 360 so if you want a console for your family buy it but if your buying a console for your self get a xbox or a ps3
More for the family

Don't get me wrong the Wii is a great console and Nintendo have hit the nail on the head with the Wii and DS. However the Wii is all about gameplay, if you obsess about graphics and realism, the Wii may not be for you. Great with a group of mates or with the family
I play, you play, Wii play.

As a devoted PS3 fan i was so supprised how much fun this console is. Sure it won't do anything like the stuff the PS3 can do but this is aimed at a different market. The family market. It is a great game system to get everyone together and interact. In contrast to the PS3 which is primaraly focused for individual play (with multiplayer interaction coming form online play).
I've just been playing on the Wii Fit and i must say apart from it calling me overweight, (ok, i've put a stone on recently writing a thesis) i really enjoyed it. As for the other games, i do see a short shelf life, especially after mastering the game/wiimote control. But with games super cheap, who can complain.
The Wii is a fun system, but nothing more that a second/family game system, but obviously if raw gaming power is what you are looking for then have the PS3 as your main system
Great Fun!

The Wii has been an astonishing success. Outselling its graphically superior counterparts PS3 and-although I hate to say it-the 360, it has smashed sales records and has made Nintendo the 3rd most valuable company in Japan. The Wii is certainly a joy when it first arrives, the price and inclusion of Wii sports for free will make any gamer happy especially as Wii sports is so great. But it is what follows that lets the console down. The lack of decent serious games out there.
The Wii has been plagued by games which are cooked up in just a few months. These are, of course, the swarms of mini games that have been bombarding the poor console. They are a nice add on in serious games but on their own at the full asking price of £35, they are annoying to say the least. Don't get me wrong, some are playable (Warioware, Mario Party 8, Wii Play) but there has been no real innovation for the controls in this category since Wii sports apart from in these titles. The other problem is lack of decent "hardcore" games. Again, there are some notable entries (Resident Evil: UC, No More Heroes, House of the Dead) but I can think of few others.
So you could buy the Wii, after all it is cheap and it comes with a great free game, but at present it is suffering because of a lack of decent games. Be prepared to gasp at the sheer amount of rubbish that lines the shelves at the local Game store because you'll be doing that a lot. The Wii is very fun to play with some games but there are just too many child friendly games at present . Hopefully as more serious games are released, the Wii will become essential, but for now, 4 stars.
Wii Is For Everyone

Wii is the odd one out of the three consoles in this generation. The graphics are less powerful but has been replaced by motion sensor technology in it's control system.
Nintendo are the only company that does this quite well and it appeals to everyone as opposed to just the same old gamers.
Online functions are free and rivals X-box live but I still believe X-Box does the whole online thing better, certain games I've played have been incredibly slow online.
Price wise it's the cheapest console on the market but in reality you'll probably spend more on this console than the others as it requires alot of hardware to get the full experience from it.
But it's unique selling point is the Wii Sports that comes with it.
It's a casual game that anyone can play and it's the only basic console package on the market to contain a free game.
If your a parent buying this for your kids then the basic package will be enough to entertain them until you can afford the other games.
Despite the less power, Wii is a good rival to the PS3 & X-box 360 with it's main audience being somewhat different to the regular market.

i have had a Wii for a few months now and being honest it has hardly been turned on from purchase.
I managed to sort our my wireless connection so decided to have a look at being online with the Wii.
The gamestore is excellent and has a range of classic titles, but in my eyes they are far too expensive for what they are, some titles that you can download for free cost around £6.00 useing the points system.
Then there is the have to buy another controller just to be able to play the games.
The Wii falls short of the 360 and PS3 in terms of long term appeal, but it comes out on top for innovation.
The weather channel is fantastic and I have spent more time spinning the globe, zooming in doing 5 day weather forecasts than I have actually playing a game.
The news channel is also excellent and the use of the magic wand is an excellent use, and Nintendo have brought us the future today.
The console has so much going for it in some respects, but again like Nintendo so many pitfalls as well.
If your a platformer freak then usually Nintendo win hands down on games, if you are into more adult entertainment then although Nintendo are slowly catching up, but it might be too little too late.
Good little console, but expect it too crash and burn first.

YESSSSS!! Yes it's the best console, but only just. With 360 dominating the online console war (they had the advantage because they make windows), it was up to this bundle of joy to make to own the gameply war, and they've done it. With incredible games like zelda, mario galaxy, metriod, and mario kart, they' ve given me the best gaming experiance i've ever had. Now with the Wi-fi starting to get used to it's full potential, it's only getting better and better. Will smash bro be better onlne than Halo 3? I think it will.
Best game on wii: Super Mario Galaxy
Best online game: Mario Kart Wii
Best Channel: Mii Contest Channel
Best VC game: Zelda: Ocarina of time
(opinion from 18/5/08)
Overall: 97%
It will be higher by the end of the year.
