The Sky Crawlers: Innocent Aces pushes the Wii hardware to the extremes of its capabilities, delivering an impressively hi-fidelity rendition of intense arcade-style aerial combat. The Wii Nunchuk is used as a joystick to control the planes in flight, and the high altitude action is supplemented with over 30 minutes of gorgeous anime cinematics. The brand new story has been created by the Project Aces team in close collaboration with the licensor, keeping faithful to the Sky Crawlers universe!

In a world where there is no more war, corporations stage fictional war 'shows' on a massive scale to make people truly feel at peace. In The Sky Crawlers: Innocent Aces, the player takes the role of a top ranked pilot transferred from another base and newly enlisted in the Rostock Corporation, an enterprise of war that has recently welcomed a batch of intriguing new pilots into their ace squadron. Not even the officers at the base are able to hide their confusion at these new recruits who appear to be mere children. One girl, Maumi Orishina, stands out from the rest. In the sky reflected in her eyes, the dogfight begins...

The controls in Sky Crawlers are ace it really does feel like you are controlling an aeroplane. The Nunchuk is used for steering and the Z button fires your machine guns. The Wii Remote is used for accelerating by lifting the Remote upwards towards your body and the B button is brake. You also use the Wii Remote for pulling off eight different evasive or attack manoeuveres by pressing the A button whilst holding the direction you want to move on the Nunchuk analogue stick. The graphics look amazing for a Wii game and the anime cut scenes are great with a good story to it all. The dog fights are fast and frantic which really gets you hooked in on this most woderful shoot em' up flight sim. The missions are most excellent with great big battle ships to take down and there are lots of different planes to unlock too. Unless Nintendo bring out a Pilot Wings game for the Wii then there won't be any type of flight sim game on the Wii to beat Sky Crawlers it's brilliant!

gone by last review thought this game would be excellent what a dissappointment, controls very poor as just as your lining up to fire on enemy your plane auto self rights itself & missions aren`t very long, still can`t see past blazing angels as a flight sim game, wouldn`t waste money on this one

 Great graphics, poor controls

To be honest, I knew very little about this game other than reading a couple of reviews and seeing the trailer. Having played the game for just a few hours though, you do get dragged into the characters. Sure it is not a true flight simulator and anyone with either MS Flight sims or MS Combat Flight sims may be expecting to be able to take off / land and control every detail of the plane (which you can't here). The graphics however are very good (for Wii) and you do get a reasonable amount of customisation of the game withdifferent planes / ammunition and difficulty levels. Overall - may not be played as much as MarioKart but will come out whenever the kids are in bed!!
