Sonic Colours is a 3D platform game. It's very bright and colourful and looks great. There are also 2D platform sections which are probably the best parts of the game. The game is fun but rarely brilliant. It is also a bit short.

This is honestly the best Sonic The Hedgehog game since Adventure 2 Battle! Combination of 3D gameplay and classic style side scrolling. beautifully detailed and colourful levels! Extremely fun and addictive game, and a heartwarming storyline. Perfect for Sonic fans and non sonic fans alike!

  Sonic Regains His Colours

For the Last few years Sonic has been getting a whole lot of stick for his new 3D adventures, although there was a mix opinion on some of his recent games there has always been light at the end of the tunnel. And that light is the Colours that Sonic has been long awaited for in the last 20 years, Sonic is back baby and Sonic Colours is not only one of the best Sonic games in the last 10 years but probably one of his best game since the glory of the Megadrive era.

Sonic Colours uses similar gameplay to Sonic Unleashed but unlike Sonic Unleashed it is actually fun. The game focuses more on Sonics speed and action, and with a unique twist the new Wisp characters are introduced giving sonic all kind of powers which give the game more originality and excitement. The mix between the 3D and 2D environments are very good as well because at one moment you could be in a running in 3D mode then running in a classic 2D side scrolling environment which recreates the Sonic magic we know and love. Plus the graphics look brilliant especially on a HD TV, possibly one of the best graphics I have seen on Wii all year. Plus the addition of new voice actors work brilliant as well, Sonic sounds like the fun, care free hero he is and Tails actually sounds older and braver. The story is pretty good as well and suites the voice actors perfectly because it involves a lot of comedy which makes the characters stand out and come to life.

Like every game there are some bad points and Sonic Colours has some which can affect how you play. Mostly it depends what controller you are using because the game offers the use of the Wii nunchuck and Wiimote or the classic controller Pro and Gamecube controllers. Myself I believe the Classic Controller Pro is the best option because the buttons are laid out simply unlike the Wiimote option which can get confusing. The side scrolling parts of the game can get difficult as well especially when it comes to jumping from platform to platform over a nothing which will take some of your lives, this is because of the sensitive analogue sticks so be careful. The game is also reasonably hard and this is because of the sensitive controls, so be prepared. The story seems short as well, I have yet to complete it but I have almost completed every Zone so far.

Sonic has come a long way to get a reasonably good game, and after years of disappointment I think everyone will be surprised on what this game offers. With some of the most fun in a Sonic game since Sonic Heroes, Sonic Colours really does regain the Colours and Magic we all loved when we are kids. And now that Sonic is reaching his 20 years I believe with this game there is a whole new world waiting for the future of Sonic, and with this by its side it is a bright one at that. If you own a Wii you must own this game, simple as that.

When i first got this game then played it i was quite a bit disappointed simply cos my expectations were high enough to think it might be as good as or better than sonic unleashed which took me about 2 years to complete and get the S grade on every level and find every hidden item. I thought the first few levels were a bit poor but the more i play the more fond of it i have gotten. I still dont think its as good as the sonic unleashed day levels but i do love the different colour wisps which give sonic some fun abilities. the levels improve later on in the game but the gamplay of them is not as fast as sonic unleashed and i dont think the music is as good. if you want to get the most out of it you have to really make use of the wisps to find the 5 red rings in each stage which is best part of the game for me. it does not deserve 1 star which a reviewer on here gave it because its quite a good sonic game

This is the closest that a 3D Sonic game has come to capturing the essence of speed and platforming of the 2D originals, but it isn't without it's faults

Controlling with the wii remote is unresponsive and so either the Gamecube or Classic controller is recommended. Some of the Colour power ups are hard to control and can lead to frustration at times and there is some degree of trial and error with the level design but that doesn't hold the game back

Despite these reletively minor faults Colours is an absolute joy to play. The graphics are great, and push the WIi to it's limits. The level design is intricate with fine attention to detail. The voice cast features new actors as Sonic and Tails and in my opinion perform much better (and far less annoying) than their older counterparts.
The biggest problem I have with the game is it's simply too short. Without a hub world in between levels the game seems to pass much quicker in comparison to Unleashed or the next gen STH however this does not change the fact that the levels themselves are brilliant and for any platforming fan this is a highly enjoyable game

  best sonic game for ages

i have no idea why the reviewer down the bottom rated this 1 star, it is by far the best sonic game for a long long time, its basically the same idea as sonic unleashed in which i mean the game changes from 2d too 3d throughout the stage but sega have really polished up the controls on sonic colours, theres no more running of the edge of cliffs anymore and sonic feels so much more in control. the whisps are a good idea, u can dig under ground, break barriers, climb walls, float, rocket and change blocks from barriers too rings, so u need to find these whisps too pass certain areas but dont worry it doesnt slow down the pace of the game. the graphics are brilliant for the wii and the music is cool. the only prob is the game is a little short if u cant be bothered gettin the chaos emeralds. this could be the way 4wd for sonic

How can someone give this game 1 star???? I dont write reviews but I have to defend this game, its AMAZING!!! There has not been a sonic game this good since SA2! Its short but sweet, straight to the point, sees the return of the classic sonic style corny jokes and has tons of replayability. Even though sonic team cant seem to stay away from adding a gimmick, I really feel like the wisps actually make this game so much better. With various additional temporary powers like becoming a laser, digger and a rocket among others gives each level many different routes to explore. Also to top it all off there is even a multiplayer, which is pretty epic in its own right!

Anyone who gives this game less than five stars is crazy, this game is a must have for any casual gamer or hardcore sonic fan.

Just got this for Xmas yesterday and was very excited to play it sorry to say but it was a complete let down. The game has no point to it and it is nothing like the original! Wii needs to get in gear and bring the original out!
