Go Vacation - Many Wii Games Rolled Into One!

| | See all Katrina's reviews (30)

First I must say, I could spend hours on this. There's just sooooo much you can do! If you've enjoyed sport games on the Wii such as Wii Sports Resort, Family Ski & Snowboard, other Winter Sports games, Horseriding Games, Racing Car Games - you name it, they are all included on Go Vacation. But you have to find the person who is running the activities in order to take part! Depending what resort you are in, you could find these people on a jet ski, skates, a skateboard, ski's, a snowmobile - the list is endless! Also at the beginning of the game you will be asked what Wii equipment you have. The basics are a wii mote and a nunchuck. If you have a wii balance board and a wii zapper, that's even better.

'Go Vacation' consists of four resorts where you have to find the treasure chests and do the stamp dash and after you have earned so many stamps you will be awarded with your own resort villa. The stamp dash is a lady at the information centre who will advise you what activity to try and where it is located. When you complete the activity you get a stamp. Alternatively you could not take her advice and just explore the places for yourself like I did and just try out the activities as you come to them, and gain stamps that way! On your way round you may bump into a photographer who wants to take your picture, a person who wants to be your buddy who will follow you round the resorts, or someone who wants you to run an errand for them etc.

If you're not sure how to do things, pay a visit to the information centre where you will find the teachers at the school who will teach you what you need to know. If you have Family Ski and Snowboard you've already mastered the main moves, as the controls are exactly the same to get around the city resort and the snow resort, although each individual activity that you take part in will have different controls which it will direct you how to use before the activity starts.

The resorts are as follows:-
Marine Resort - (Perfect place to sample a wide variety of summer sports that you may do on holiday),
City Resort - (Fancy skateboarding, skating or just walking round the city? The choice is yours! And whilst you're at it, take part in the urban activities such as grinding master on the ramps in the city, to sports car racing, to playing the glass harp in the theatre, or taking part in the dance competition! Also use the tram to get around!)
Snow Resort - Winter Sports galore. So far I have done the ice fishing, the dog sledding (with a dog I was given by a man in the city resort!), and the snow tubing. All were great fun, but there is so much more to explore such as skiing on the various slopes! You can use the chair lift or the helicopter to get to the top of various slopes.
Mountain Resort - Not experienced this one yet, but apparently it's a pristine natural landscape for the outdoor enthusiast! Think horse-riding, cycling - that sort of thing.

Your Villa - Once you have been awarded with your very own villa (can't wait!), you can start collecting furniture throughout the game in the various resorts to design it. You can remodel and redecorate it whenever you want.

All in all a brilliant game to add to my Wii Collection. My only one complaint is the fact it makes you wait to do each activity whilst it's loading, and gives you a blank blue screen that just says 'Go Vacation' and you can use the stamp to stamp pictures of a Husky dog on the screen. It is annoying how you have to wait, but that is one minor issue in a game that is full of opportunities! Definitely one to put on your Christmas Wish List!

Yes it really is better then Wii Sports Resort!!!

It really is amazing that Go Vacation has 50 different sports and activities for your family to enjoy even more so when you consider Wii Sports Resort only had 12! One of the things I like best about Go Vacation is the way you can explore the whole island without having to do any of the activites if you want to. The Island is split up into four different resorts which are as follows: Marine, city, snow and mountain resort. My six year old daughter, my partner and myself all played this game together the last two days and we all love it. We have done surfing, hang gliding, horse racing, atv racing, snow boarding, sky diving, sledge racing with dogs, tennis, racing sports cars, dancing, diving under water, snow boarding, skiing, racing jet skies, air hockey and we still have so much more to see and enjoy!
You can also get yourself a villa and put lots of different furniture in it which is pretty cool. The controls work very well and are easy to use and for even better conrols Go Vacation supports Wii MotionPus which is fantastic. Another great feature of this game is that you can also use your Wii Blance Borad, Zapper and Wheel if you want to which really adds to the fun of the game when playing by yourself. I rate Go Vacation so much that it is in my personal top 10 Wii games of all time which is pretty impressive as I have played and owned many Wii games over the years!

This is a great game for children, its guaranteed to keep them quiet for a long while with lots to explore and find and do with endless missions and mini games and free roaming around the island finding hidden treasure chests and unlocking items!! The mini games are fun and range from racing cars to fishing and building snowmen etc, worth every penny.

All The Best Wii Games Combined

Me and my friends have always said, "Wouldn't it be great if you had a game which was like Animal Crossing, Wii Sports and Wii Party combined? Where you can explore and walk from activity to activity as if you are actually there?" Well, our wish was granted in the form of Go Vacation...

There are 4 main resorts on Go Vacation, (already you can see this game includes aspects of more than one Wii game) all with their very own modes of transport for you to try out. Bear in mind you can walk/swim at all resorts. I will list the details of each resort here:
Marine: You've probably guessed this resort is based around a beach location. There is a more tourist-y side and a secluded, undisturbed side as well as lots of other features. Sports include scuba diving, surfing, skydiving and volleyball. Vehicles: ATV (quad bike) or marine bike.
City: This has all the features of a small city - sky scrapers, shopping malls and parks. There are some random activities but most revolve around a skate theme. Activities include: paragliding, skate tricks and glass harp. Vehicles are: skateboard or inline skates.
Snow: This resort consists of loads of ski slopes. You can go right to the peak of the snowy mountain or play in the snow parks at the base. Activities are all snow-based and include: dog sledding, snowball fight and snow tubing. Vehicles are: skiis, snowboard, snowtube or snowmobile.
Mountain: The main features of this resort are a mountain, a waterfall and a lake. It is just a chunk of gorgeous countryside. Activities include: rafting, tennis and car racing. The vehicles are: horse, off-road car and kayak.

My initial thoughts on the game were negative. The graphics seem amateur and, compared to other games, some sports seem a tad boring. But once you have received all your stamps you start the real game and can explore the resorts, which is an entirely different story...
There are a range of different achievements to work towards in each resort, such as finding all treasure chests, completing all bungee jumping spots and having a photo taken at all available areas just to name a few. Each resort has so many crevises and hidden areas just waiting to be discovered!

I have one problem with the game - I simple cannot figure out how you pull the brake in the bungee jumping activity. I have tried countless times and it just does not want to stop. However it seems that others haven't experienced this problem which leads me to think it must be the way I am doing it which is wrong.

Don't hesitate to buy this game if you are considering buying it. Almost all aspects of the game are absolutely perfect and there are hours of enjoyment for you to experience in this fun-filled paradise. I guarantee that you will never regret it!

 Endless hours of fun

This game is great, it is like Wii Sports plus Wii Sports Resort and more, all rolled into one game. The main difference between this game and others is that, in this game you have the option of just waking around the island, or driving ,on a horse, on skateboard and more. I have over 80 hours of game time, mostly playing 2 player with my sister, and we still havent finished all the objectives that this game has to offer! Definitely worth a buy!!
