Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles - The Crystal Bearers opens up a whole new style of game design never experienced in previous 'Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles' games. Set in a huge and beautifully created open-world universe, players will be treated to a magnificent story of adventure, exploration and puzzle solving.

A thousand years have passed since the events of the original Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles. The destruction of the Yuke Crystal during the Great War had at once brought the victorious Lilty Tribe prosperity, the defeated Yuke Tribe apparent annihilation, and the world a new age of science and reason. In this new era exists a rare breed of powerful beings called "crystal bearers", whose seemingly magical abilities have led them to be feared and scorned by the public.

A young mercenary name Layle, a crystal bearer, has been hired to escort the new passenger airship Alexis, the pinnacle of Lilty technology and a symbol of their current dominance. However, when the Alexis is suddenly besieged by a horde of monsters, Layle comes face to face with an adversary thought to have vanished from the pages of history, on a quest that may threaten the future of the world...

  • Be The Crystal Bearer: Become Layle and push his crystal bearer skills to the max, as he and his companions discover the truth about their mysterious adversary.
  • Leap, Hurl and Smash Your Way To Victory: Enjoy exhilarating, real-time combat using intuitive, action-based manipulation of weapons, enemies - and even Layle himself.
  • Enjoy Cutting-Edge Graphics and Audio: Blistering 3D visuals push the Wii hardware to the limit, and an emotive orchestral score brings the game's world irresistibly to life.
  • Immerse Yourself In The Legend: Lose yourself in the epic story and its cast of unforgettable characters, set in a vast and breathtaking fantasy world.
  • Explore The World, Discover New Abilities: The open-world design means that you're free to explore however you wish, while the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controls encourage all kinds of playing styles and tactics.

Best game on Wii, severly underated masterpeice...

This is the BEST game on Wii, bar none.

I have not touched any other games since buying it.
Do not believe the low ratings, this is a MUST HAVE for any Wii owner, any FF fan and any fan of FUN GAMES.

The characters and story is compelling and interesting, Layle is by no means your average introverted FF character. He is wild.

There is so much to see and do on this game it is truely incredible. I have been playing for 17 hours now and I still have litterally hundreds and hundred of things to do, including the main story.

Crystal bearers plays more like a Zelda game than anything, LOTS of side missions and secrets, you really get drawn into the game and want to become a part of it.

I am a huge fan of RPG/Adventure games and I have very high standards when it comes to being coaxed into parting with my cash for games. But this was well worth it.

People who bash this game simple have not put the time in to get used to the controls. This is a totally new and refreshing expirience, plays unlike any game you've played before. It will require practice to master the combat, which is not going to happen on the first day.
As for the camera I don't understand how anyone can say there is anything wrong with it. You can complete control over the camera functions and can position it anywhere you like. It works perfectly.

Imagine free fall sky diving while using your kinetic powers to control a gigantic machine gun to shoot dragon type creatures straight out of the air. Thats the first mission. And its replayable, as are all the missions, once you reach a certain point in the game.

BUY IT BUY IT BUT IT!

If you don't you are missing out.
The world is EMMENCE.
Unlike anything I have come across before in any game.

Just buy it and you'll see.

 Do not buy

I bought it and returned it the next day. Camera is annoying, the constant use of the term "crystal bearer" will annoy you, the fighting mechanics are off, etc. I love rpgs, but this one was a failed romance.

 Fun and exciting adventure

Crystal Chronicles is in some parts like traditional Final Fantasy games, resembling Final Fantasy X or other earlier installments with its storytelling, style and the ambience of the game world. However, it's also a new kind of game that doesn't focus on the random battles or level grinding, and instead tries to make the impressive cutscenes of the Final Fantasy series more interactive for the player. There will be chocobo chases, aerial battles, and humorous diversions that you would have earlier only watched, but now you'll be in control, playing through the exciting scenes.

Besides the impressive storyline cutscenes, the game world has plenty of exploration, with plenty of things to look for and try out with main character Layle's gravity powers, but the main focus is on the spectacle of the fast-paced storyline and the wide variety of different gameplay situations that emerge during its course. Some things in the game are not perfect, like the time limit in clearing some areas of enemies, or Layle's slow walking speed in bigger areas, but for the most part it's a thrilling adventure that grabs you and won't let go, to see just what lies ahead. It's a shorter Final Fantasy games than some of the others, but none less enjoyable, with great music to tide the adventure and likable characters to make you interested in.

 Not worth the money

I bought this game being a fan of the final fantasy series and ended up returning it after 2 days. The character is annoying at best and the controls extemely frustrating never mind the camera angles, which yes you can control but not without it getting annoying.

In no way compares to games like zelda which are a joy to play. If you like being reduced to yelling at the telly after forever spent trying to complete one task then by all means buy it but if you don't already own zelda I'd get that instead.

The graphics are nice as is the level of interactivity but I think they're the only positive things I could say.
