Official Nintendo Wii LAN Adapter

I bought one of these while they were in stock, with the full intention of buying a router to connect to the internet, as the diagram in the instructions says it should, but having just a cable modem, no wireless and no router, I did wonder if this would work by connecting it straight to the modem, my ps3 does after all, I bought a seperate RJ45 network cable, and tentatively plugged this straight into my Virgin Media modem, then the other end into the Wii Lan Adaptor, I went through the settings, and after a few seconds wait, the wii successfully set itself up and within moments I was browsing the virtual console.

When I want to use the Wii all I have to do is unplug My PC's cable and plug the Wii's cable in, which I am already used to doing with the ps3, so simple, I won't bother to get a router now, just for the sake of swapping a cable over.

This product is the perfect solution to those who do not have a wireless connection, and for those who do not wish to use one, even if I did have wireless, I would still use this, much safer and more reliable.

if you want your wii online you will need to buy 1 of these.
if you have wireless internet you wont need this!

The wii has usb 2.0 ports which have a maximum bandwidth of 480mbit/s not 12mbit/s. The speed of the these ports will clearly cope with a 100mbit/s lan connection.

If you dont have wireless internet you will need one of these! its more expencive than 3rd party adapters but does the job, using 3rd party adapters may void your wiis warenty, but im not sure.

plug the usb into your wii, plug net cable between source and adapter, set up wired connection on wii and away you go. simple.

It does exactly as it says, I find it insane how anybody could rate a working piece of kit with one star.
