Not as good as it sounds

I was really looking forward to this game being released and was very dissapointed when I first played it. From all of the hype I was under the impression it would be an excellent party game for young adults. I thought it would match the likes of singstar and the dance mat that have previously been released on PS2. It is no where near as good. The dance moves are limited and you dont feel like you are actually controlling what the character is doing, rather just waving the remote around and the character does whatever. Plus the dance moves are quite limited and the character ends up repeating the same moves over and over again, which gets boring.
The karaoke option is ok, but not brilliant. Overall this game would probably be suitable and more entertaining for children under the age of 12.

Another cheap thrown-together title from EA

Was hoping for a lot from this game when I bought it, and was very disappointed. The song selection is very small and the tracks are poor recreations of the originals - I have heard better performances from amateur bands at my local pub. I get the feeling that this game was put together incredibly low budget and had very little involvement from anyone who is musically talented.

        Let's begin with the dance-off:
For a start, the metronome clicks from the WII remote are out of time on most of the songs, I had to turn the remote volume off to be able to get a decent score. Otherwise you spend the whole track trying to listen to the 'tick tock' instead of the song. You swing the remote up, down, left and right in time with the music to fill your boogie meter. Then you can do combos by... yet again swinging up down left or right. You can also move around the stage to collect 1 of 3 types of powerups. This sort of gameplay is only challenging if you are incredibly young or very drunk and is of little interest to either category. My six year old son-in-law played this game with his friends once and was bored and asked to go back to WII sports instead.

        Then there is Karaoke:
This is very similar to singstar, with the lyrics at the bottom and coloured blobs representing pitch. However there is only one microphone which means no multiplayer, and it is difficult to convince people to sing on their own at parties when they might have otherwise been persuaded to join in with a friend. Furthermore, during parts of the songs you can hear the artist singing, but no blobs to sing along to (and I'm not talking about the Grease track with the option of singing either male or female). The game doesn't recognise pitch very well, and you can basically have one player talking in a monotone, and then another player singing in perfect pitch, and their scores will be very similar.

Finally the Story Mode and Shop:
When you first start playing, most of the songs, stages and clothing is locked and you have to purchase them at the shop or unlock them through story mode. Because of the funky cartoony look of the game, they could have put in some animated scenes during the story mode that would have made it interesting (think of Wario Smooth Moves!). Instead you are presented with one background with static character pictures and about 100 words of boring text to read through. In the end I just ended up skipping the text and breezing through the challenges to unlock the feeble number of tracks available in the game.

My advice to anyone considering buying this game is:
        Dont.

Another classic rip-off cheaply produced title from the corporation that destroys smaller games companies. R.I.P. Bullfrog.

         Get down and Boogie

For all you guys out there who like to strut your stuff and have a good time Boogie's the game for you.You can create your own boog and it is a 2 player game.Whether you young or old, playing on your own or in a group Boogie will keep you entertained for ages. There were a lot of songs i didn't know but it was still fun trying to sing them. When your done you can make a video and laugh at how bad you sound. The story mode is easy and you don't have to be good at singing or dancing to enjoy this one.So what are you waiting for get your friends and family around and have a dance-off to see who has the best moves.

         Not worth the money

I was looking forward to this game SOOO much - it was hyped up and likened to the SingStar but was very disappointed when this came in the post. The songs are poor and its not even the original singers singing the songs. Played it twice and its now gatering dust. Gutted!!!

Was looking forward to this but am feeling let down!

After reading the hype and being a bit of a singstar fanatic I was really looking forward to Boogie for me and the kids. However, like jinjex review, I am left disappointed. I always thought I am fairly rhythmical and have a keen musical interest but this game was anything but! The beat doesn't go with the beat of the track in the background which is totally frustrating and confusing especially for the kids as they move and dance to the track beat! You have to watch the bar on the right side of the screen. It's no where near as sensitive to moves like other games I've played such as wario smooth moves with the dance routine bit in it....great fun just wish it hads more levels! Anyway not as physically interactive as I was lead to believe in the dance section. The kareoke bit's ok but not original artists like singstar which is half the price. My kids didn't know hardly any of the tracks as a bit more my generation an I ain't a biddie but am no Girls Aloud age either!!! Unimpressed sorry!
