Top 100 Games Reviewer

I`ve read on other reviews that the charger will not work unless the Wii is switched on. Rubbish!
The Wii has three power modes: On - green light, Standby - orange light , Off - Red Light.
If you press the power button on the console once, or hold it down on the Wii-mote, then the console goes into standby.
This is the mode it uses when accessing the internet to distribute your Mii`s when you`re not using it. In this mode the charger will charge fine. The blue LEDs around the charger even operate to show it is getting power.
There is a red LED next to each charging bay to show that the Wii-motes are charging. I assume this goes out when they are done, but mine havent finished fully charging yet.
Anyway - the back of the box states that it stops charging once the batteries are full, so I guess the light does go out.
I can also get the Wii-motes into the charger without removing the strap, you do have to lift up the bottom of the skin though ( if you have one ) , but that is no real problem.
Great device , and has cool blue LEDs, and everyone loves blue LEDs!

Your Wii must be configured to go into Standby Mode

If you don't set your Wii to go into Standby Mode, it won't power this charger when you hit the power button. Go into Wii Settings, next screen, Connect24, Standyby Connection. On. The Confirm. Now it'll show an orange glow when in Standby.

 Works well looks cool!

I've had one of these for a few weeks now and find it really usefull. So far have had no trouble with it, the battery packs fit well and both wiimotes sit nicely into their slots. It's powered via one of the usb sockets on the wii so doesn't need another plug socket. I think it looks far cooler than the drab grey bit of plastic supplied with the wii and when you fire up the blue lights which run round the edges of the wiimotes and wii the whole set-up looks great (especially if you play at night with the room lights turned low!). Overall very happy with it and think it enhances the look of my wii. Oh yeah, you can charge extra batteries via a separate socket behind the wiimotes too.

 Works a treat

I've had this for a couple of weeks now but only started using it to charge the wiimotes a few days ago. I've had absolutely no problems with it and it appears to be doing it's job just fine. As has been mentioned by others, the blue neon can be turned off if you wish although I quite like the way it looks. The stand comes with battery packs for 2 wiimotes which replace the standard backings and need to be fitted with 2 AAA rechargable batteries in each one. Once done this notably reduces the weight of the wiimotes making long periods of play more comfortable. To charge, the wiimotes slot into the charging docks tightly but without the need to remove the wrist-straps as some reviewers have suggested. The Wii can be switched to standby (orange light) and the neon can be turned off but the unit will continue to charge, which is great if you leave it going overnight. There are 3 stages to charging. First the red LED's will glow solidly, eventually they will slowly flash and once a full charge is reached they will blink quickly. This took about 8 hours for the first charge and a lot less for subsequent ones. A fully charged wiimote will allow at least 6 hours of continuous play. I have been storing the wiimotes back in their docks when not in use and have not encountered any issues with overheating, poor charging, crashing or damage to the wiimote.
All in all this is a nice looking piece of equipment that does the job it is designed to do. For £9.99 you really can't go wrong.

Top notch for less than a Tenner

I'd looked around for a suitable charging unit and decided on this because the remotes eat batteries for breakfast.
It's a brilliant charging unit, you need AAA Ni-mh rechargeable batteries as the unit comes with replacement back panels to house the AAA's.
The charging station is powered by the inbuilt USB lead plugged into the back of the Wii.
You have the option of having the "blue light" on or off - i have mine off as its like the Blackpool illuminations under the TV.
Some people stated in their reviews that they had problems putting the remotes into the cradles with the jackets and straps attached, personally i have had no problems. The jackets just roll up and providing you hold the strap strings tight to the remote body as you insert it into the cradle it fits nicely.
