If your planing on getting this game first get in mind that its not a game that will keep you on the edge of your seat, its more of a sim. However this doesn't mean it isn't exciting as you get to explore a massive area of open water (hence "endless ocean") in your diving gear. You recieve various missions via your boats comm system which sees you diving for lost items, hidden treasure or giving a tour of the seabeds. Your character keeps records of various species you have encountered which gives you an incentive to explore the depths for rare fish. The Wii controller sees you interacting with the species you come across as well as controlling your diver by aiming to the direction you wish to swim.
This game for me, just missed out on 5 stars as the lack of action would not be everyones idea of a game. I'm sure that people who enjoy adventure games with freedom would love this aspect.
Bear in mind this is my opinion and that not everyone would agree.
Its not really a game its more of a relaxing experiance and exploration. I really enjoy playing endless ocean and you somehow end up playing it for much longer than you plan. The graphics are quite beautiful to look at as you discover differnet parts of the ocean bed and caves. You have to interact with loads of different sea life, take photos of them and file them. The giant Fish such as the sperm whale have a good feeling of hugeness about them and the graphics are quite impressive. The music fits the game perfectly and is some of the most beautiful and relaxing songs ive ever heard in any game. Some may find the non-game style and straight forwardness of it very boring but for those who are open minded enough and would like to take on the role of a sea diver with a camera and a sense of exploration its well worth the small price tag on it. Great atmosphere with haedphones on. you really feel like your having a diving experiance
An awe inspiring experience.
The most relaxing "game" you could ever play, it's soo different and alternative to the mindless gaming elsewhere.
If you care about the environment and the world around you, you couldn't fail to like this.
Bare in mind that I consider Resident Evil 4 on the Gamecube to be a gaming classic, I can just as easily recommend this as it's soo far away from my "normal" diet of gaming.
Go on...take a dive and see what's down there...
If you're looking for action and high octane stuff to do, this game isn't for you and you can start looking elsewhere for another game.
You can't really define this as a "Game", but what it offers you is hours and hours of relaxation, explore in a vast ocean, discover what it has to offer you in terms of surprise and beautiful scenary. There are "missions" you can do, but you tend to just rush through most of the magic on offer to achieve the goal. Which is completely the opposite of what this game is offering.
Once you learned the basics and acquire a few equipments, you'll just want to wander off by yourself and see as much as you can. You actually feel like you're exploring and words can't really describe the sensation of discovering something new for the first time and there are so many new things to find in the water.
All in all, this game won't appeal to everyone, and some hardcore gamers will even resent this game as this is another example of their favouriote past time being pushed to another demographic. But gaming isn't all about blowing the brains out of anything that moves, or clocking the fastest time on a track or beating the high score. If you have an open mind, this game will definitely broaden your horizon as far as what "games" can be.
I would definitely recommend this game, especially if you're the kind who always wanted an aquarium in your living room but can't afford one or too lazy to maintain one. Good stuff.
When i saw this game for 15 quid i thought i couldnt go wrong buying it due to that price, and hell was i right! endless ocean is misunderstood by many gamers because they say things like "oh you dont do anything but swim n look at fish".
As the title suggests its going to involve swimming, which is what makes this game so unique. if youve outdone urself with hardcore games and are looking to take the edge off for a while, then i seriously recommend this game. you'll be hooked onto the actually amazing detail put into the game, not to mention that swimming with your friends is seriously satisfying.
trust me, you cant go wrong with this game, its 15 quid, give it a try, it'll make u feel very relaxed and keep you entertained for a long time!
