The Wii Remote and Nunchuk both take on a new feeling when placed within the Wii Zapper. In Link's Crossbow Training players use the Wii Remote in the Wii Zapper to aim at targets on the screen, with the Nunchuk controlling movement. On the Wii Remote, players simply press down the trigger (the B Button) to fire, or continue the pressure for a more powerful shot. They can also re-position themselves, turning in different directions by aiming the pointer off-screen. On the Nunchuk the Z-Button acts as a zoom function for the camera so that the shot is completely on target.

Link's Crossbow Training sees each player take on the role of Link in a series of exciting and fast-paced challenges set in the world of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.

Players can get accustomed to the Wii Zapper with Link's Crossbow Training and practice Target Shooting as well as the Defender and Ranger modes, ensuring an action-packed experience in numerous stages spread over nine levels. The object of each stage is to achieve the highest score before the time limit expires.

Utilising the innovative Wii Zapper allows players to take aim and fully immerse themselves into the game in a completely new way!

Includes Wii Zapper and Link's Crossbow Training

  • In target-shooting rounds, players shoot bull'seyes as they pop up on the screen. In early stages, targets are stationary. As the game difficulty increases in later levels, the targets move.
  • In defender rounds, players remain stationary but can look and aim in all directions sometimes even in a full 360-degrees by aiming off screen.
  • In ranger rounds, players can move throughout the level using the control stick and aim anywhere they want by aiming the Wii Zapper wherever they want to look.

The Wii Zapper is a casing unit which holds the Remote and Nunchuck in position so it feels more like you're using a lightgun, it's a sturdy design which feels comfortable and also tidy's the wiring out of the way, all in all a very good design, now this also comes bundled with a game.

Links Crossbow Training is a lightgun style game with various different modes from standard shooting practice, where you aim and shoot at different targets on a static screen, to Ranger where you control Links movement and fight off hordes of coming enemies, all the modes are rendered using the superb Twilight Princess engine and world.

If you like Lightgun games such as Virtua Cop, House of the Dead or Point Blank this is a must buy, at the end of the day Links Crossbow Training is worth £20 alone.

The Zapper is already compatible with several games with more to come.

    Out now
    Ghost Squad - Works brilliantly.
Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles - Works OK.
Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 - Works brilliantly.

    Coming soon
House of the Dead 2 & 3: The Return - Reports say it works brilliantly.

A great official accessory, don't buy an unofficial one!

I'll summarise this review in 5 easy points.

    1. The Wii Zapper is easy to hold and personally I think, gives a better aim.

    2. It creates more realism in games such as Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles.

    3. It comes packed with Link's Crossbow Training which can give hours of fun, trying to beat high scores.

    4. It's easy to attach and detach the Wii Remote, providing easy accessibility.

    5. It's fun to use, and is great for multiplayer if your friend has one.

I seriously reccommend you buy this, as it's worth every penny. Don't waste your money on the unofficial ones, they're not as good quality.

     I like the Wii Zapper

I got the Wii zapper for Christmas. For £20 I think it is good value for money. The bundled game is fairly basic but great fun. It is a target shooting game and it can be completed in a few hours. However the idea is that you replay levels to try and beat your previous scores.

If you consider you are paying £10 for the Zapper and £10 for a game it is unfair to rate the game against something costing £40.

I would consider it in the same league as Wii Play.

On my TV the accuracy was ok. You move it left/right/up/down and the cursor moves as expected. The Zapper isn't aligned perfectly with the cursor but then neither is any other Wii game. It's a computer game not an Olympic sport!

The Zapper is only suitable for games using particular control systems. Red Steel isn't one of them so you can't moan at the Zapper if you try and use it for that.

You wouldn't try and use a steering wheel to play Bowling, would you?

Its best to check that a particular games was written with the Zapper in mind because they are the only games that are going to be suitable.

I look forward to seeing more games take advantage of the Zapper and for the money it is a useful accessory.

     Worth the money

I think this is a great stocking filler ideal for the kids.

The Zapper is a very simple design to hold your Wii mote and Nun chuck. But it works well. It is light and strong and natural to use.

This make the Wii mote THE best gun for any system. A great idea that adds to the unique Wii mote .

Links is ok. Not brilliant, but ok. I reckon is is a party game rather than a lone gamers game. I found it on to turn and look up and down by pointing, but this is more to do with being used to mouse and keyboard or joypads.

The future for the zapper looks better for gamers as new traditional shooters come online rather than the party games that are out now. I have seen a video of Resident Evil Umbrella running with the zapper and it looked very good.

As I said, worth the money

You could spend £20 on a LOT worse!!!!!!

i think this is a great price for this item, admitidly the game itself is not long but it's great fun & really quite challenging. there are 8 stages in total, with each stage being broken down into 3 sections (with a timer of approx 1 min on each section). you need to accumilate a score of over 20,000 in the 3 section to unlock the next full level.

i am thouroughly impressed with how well made the zapper is, there seems to have been a lot of though into it, it's good quality plastic (not that cheap flimsy stuff) & there's even a compartment to tuck the nunchuk cable into so it's not flapping about, i've found the unit works really well and definatly adds to the experience.

    For £20, i think it's a bargain, happy zapping!!!!!!
