Wii Chess the new rock n roll?

| | See all ListenuppeopleOK's reviews (4)

Up to 10 levels to get to grips with. For the average player things start getting tough from level 4 onwards. I`ve been on line and had no problems connecting to other players from around the world. You can either connect to players of the same rating (You start off with 1500 points and from there you either gain or lose points) or any ability. Theres some pretty tough players out there! You can choose from two time matches either 5 or 20 minutes.
Its a well crafted game. I wish there was more of a 3D element to the graphics which is only a little niggle. As you progress through the game you can unlock better looking chess pieces and boards.
All in all a good game. I can see quite a few chess players out there getting hooked onto the online gaming element of the package. It remains to be seen if the new Fritz chess package coming out this year will beat it though. Overall good value for money with the Loop express chess engine that nintendo have built in coming out on top.

  WiiWare Chess?

This is a good game if chess is you're thing, dont expect anymore than plain auld Chess though. Smart simple presentation, and ability to go online with it is is a welcome feature. You can also play 2 player from the 1 Wii console.
This would really have been suited better as a Wiiware title though at a pricepoint of 1000 Wii points. If you like Chess and find it cheap pick it up by all means!

What more can I say - its chess!

There are many great points about this game. Firstly the ability to go online and play against people from around the world is a good feature. When playing against the computer it is challenging; great prcatise for a chess hobbyist.

If you do not like chess then you will not like this. It is just pure and simple chess. No mini games or special features. The visuals are also very basic. The game is a little pricey for what it is. For the price I would have expected a selection of classic games such as backgammon and draughts.

  Good Fun

Yes this game is pretty basic, as all you can do is play Chess and thats about it. But its good fun and really tests you out. I think this is a very good game overall :D
